Good for home or small office use, the Brother MFC-495cw Wireless All-In-One Color Inkjet Printer copies, prints, scans and faxes. Its wireless or wired Ethernet interfaces enable sharing with multiple computers on a network. A 3.3" widescreen color LCD display allows editing or enhancement of your photos and has easy to read help menus. Plus, this all-in-one uses 4-individual ink cartridges that help to yield sharp and colorful prints.
It comes with a 15-page capacity auto document feeder (ADF), a 100-page main tray, plus a bypass tray for feeding up to 20-sheets of 4 x 6" photo paper into the machine to keep workflow going. The scanner unit can scan multiple files at a time with the ADF and save them as PDF pages, e-mail attachments or individual files. Users can also print without a computer via built-in memory card slots that accommodate a wide variety of popular memory cards on the market, and a PictBridge interface to capture images directly from compatible digital cameras.

Having owned several other printers that use over priced cartridges, and also having owned a previous Brother MFC/printer, I was drawn to this machine because of its specs and its wireless/wired LAN capability. My original MFC-210c was $50 brand new, and B&H MADE me buy this @ [$]! I couldn't resist. Not being greatly into the FAX world, I must say that Brother has the FAX thing down to a science. Shortly after purchasing my first MFC, my car was broadsided by an ambulance, and the FAX saved us many hours of frustration in dealing with insurance companies, police departments and the RMV. The FAX is a huge bonus! And Brother does it best.I have the MFC control panel set up on my PC as well as wireless laptops in my house, and I can scan, copy, and fax from any of them. For anyone having setup issues, brother has a "Netool" app that can be downloaded from their help page. I've used this before, as well as with this machine, and it finds whatever the problem is, and fixes it, for me so far anyways. The document feeder is also a great bonus in not having to load individual pages for a fax. Also, aftermarket ink cartridges are practically cost free, and if they clog your printhead after 2 or 3 years, you're so far ahead of the game in ink costs that you buy another one of these machines, and start all over again.I have hundreds of glossy photo's, many faxes sent and received, thousands of copies B & W and Color, and my old machine is still a great fax machine and scanner, despite a clogged printhead. I would expect at least as good from this machine, plus the wireless ability and document feeder. This machine also has the built in color screen where you can scroll through photos on your media cards without the need of your pc to see them.If you're using this wireless, and you're doing some large project at your kitchen table, you can unplug it from the phone line, and plug it in near where you're working, and you're set to go! Copy, scan and print from your laptop while you eat your sandwich, all wireless!

[...] It was very easy to set up. I had some initial problems with the wifi printing only to find out I was putting the wrong passcode in there. To enter the passcode you have to use the keypad like you are text messaging. The quality seems really good. The important thing for me is when the ink cartridges go out, the replacements can be found on amazon for very cheap.

Comments about Brother MFC-495CW Wireless All-In-One Color Inkjet Printer:
I found this is a nifty piece of kit and an absolute bargain. I am not a heavy user but use the printer more than any of the other fantastic features on it. As I am not a computer geek I found it difficult to set it up using the wireless mode but after sitting down and reading the instructions thoroughly I managed to get 3 computers (two laptops and a desktop) wirelessly connected.
I am more than pleased with this item and if any of you out there are thinking of upgrading your current equipment and set up to wireless then I assure you ... you will be very happy with this. I am so glad I purchased it oh ... and don't bother searching any other sites to buy it .. as Bhp is easily the cheapest and the best.

This is the first printer that I've had that does everything that it says. I have utilized all the features except for the fax and have not had any problems. I use it for home use and it keeps up with all the tasks I throw at it. I would definitely recommend this printer to a friend or anyone who is looking for an all-in-one printer.

The printer is used for home use and some photos. The photo print quality is very impressive with high gloss paper can't tell it from professional prints. Colors are good. Just a little slower than advertized, but exceptable. Wireless is easy to set up and convient. The way you can feed the fax, or copy is great. Well worth the money.

I use this for my home office base and for some personal purposes too.
Pros: Wireless Connectivity {can keep it in my closet and dont have to worry about it occupying space in my room}, Photo & Print Quality, Ease of loading the cartridges, ease of loading paper
Cons: The set up took me a long time and I still cannot connect the printer to my 2nd laptop {office laptop}, could be because of the firewall settings.

Used mostly for fax and scanning functions. Easy to set up wirelessly and can access from my entire network. Buttons are well laid out and menus are easy to navigate. I am especially fond of its small size. A bit noisy, but not obnoxiously so.

Overall seems to work well. Could use a black ink enhancing capability to bring out weak printing on original for copies and faxing.
Except for a unexpected hassle syncing up the wireless capability, my bottom line is all positive for the MCF-495CW.
