MacBooks can be easily scratched by jewelry on the palm rest.
This item fits very well, sticks great, is reasonably priced.
In fact, it's not even made for the new MacBook Air but fit it perfectly.
The touchpad protector is not easy to place though and it caused a bit of clicking trouble so I tossed it.

After recently purchasing a new MacBook Pro, I knew I'd want something to protect (mainly) the palm rest area (especially from my wristwatch band).
Looked at several products and reviews, and found this Moshi Palm Guard set.
The consensus from the reviews was that this product was well-made and had a precise fit.
I ordered one (from B&H of course!), and I must say I couldn't be happier!
Application was straight-forward (much like applying the screen protector on my iPhone). The palm rest area cover goes on painlessly, with not a single bubble or wrinkle to be found (just make sure your MBP is good and clean, and dust free when you start).
The track pad area cover required a little more work to remove a couple of air bubbles, and it appears that's due to the track pad cover being made of a slightly different material (judging by the feel). I'd assume that is to maintain the responsiveness of the trackpad.
To sum it up:
PROS:
- The material seems like it will prove durable
- Fit and size are spot-on precise
- Color matches the MBP so closely, one can easily overlook the fact that the protector is even on the notebook.
- Trackpad responsiveness appears to be unaffected by the cover. I do tend to tap fairly hard on the trackpad anyway, so this is no surprise.
CONS:
- May affect tap-to-click on your trackpad if you tend to have a really light touch, easily overcome with just a little additional pressure though.
- Once it's attached, it's really attached. Just be sure you have the alignment before you completely commit to laying the entire cover down.
~$20 seems to be a very reasonable amount of money to spend to protect the finish (and thus maintain resale value) of the MBP. I sort of liken this to a steering wheel cover for you car...yeah, it may get dirty and damaged, but can be easily replaced whenever needed.
