The Bamboo Pen & Touch from Wacom is a USB digital tablet that combines advanced Multi-Touch input with that of a traditional digital pen. It fully supports Multi-Touch gestures, including gestures and finger taps, over a large portion of its active area. As the tablet is larger than trackpads found on most laptops, it is both comfortable and natural to use. You can use your fingers to move about your desktop, scroll through documents, navigate the web, zoom in and out of photos, and rotate images.
For more precise applications, such as image editing, the included pressure-sensitive pen is available for use. You can use it to edit photos, create personal greetings, make sketches, and mark up documents in your own handwriting. The pen supports 1024 pressure levels for precise control, and is accurate to ±0.02 inches.
Users who have not used a tablet before will appreciate the included tutorial, which teaches you how to use simple hand gestures to move around your desktop, make selections, and complete other computing tasks. The tablet features four ExpressKeys, which can be customized to suit your needs. It is reversible, allowing right-handed and left-handed users to use the tablet with equal comfort.
The Bamboo is compatible with PC and Mac systems with USB. An extensive software bundle is included: Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.0 for Windows, Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0 for Mac, and Nik Color Efex Pro 3.0 WE3 for Mac and Windows.

I am an aspiring anime/manga artist and had been itching to dive into digital art for a while now. Come three weeks ago, I decided it was time to make the switch. Though I was originally looking for a cheep pen tablet, I found that the majority of the lower priced tablets had a drawing space that was too small. After looking at the reviews for the Bamboo Pen, i decided that it was worth the extra money to get one i'd be happy with and that would last for a long time. ( i had originally planned on just getting a beginner tablet and later purchasing a more expensive one, though I would like to add that the bamboo pen and touch will serve me well for a good long time even while my skills improve). But then I found the Bamboo pen and touch and decided that for the extra thirty dollars, it would save me a lot of frustration. I have a netbook with a rather small screen, so the ability to be able to zoom and pan around the screen is an unbelievable life saver.
The installation was very easy, the intructions simple. I had no problems. (since i have a netbook with no cd drive, i had to copy all the contents of the disk onto a flashdrive. It was extremely simple and only took a few minutes). The tutorial is very helpful, though I almost immediately forgot all the double tapping, one finger click, tap second finger commands and all... So if you're interested in all the snazzy commands, pay attention. After having the tablet for three weeks, I have found I never use any of the touch commands accept for zooming. For everything else, I prefer using the pen. I believe we'll all develop a preference depending on our uses for this product. I also found I enjoy using the tablet as a mouse for my daily internet use, though I still try to scroll by grabbing a spot on the page and trying to move it.
If you are using this for art purposes, the pen is very responsive and the pressure sensability is quite fun to use. I have not ventured into the opacity or color changing aspects of the pressure, so far I use the size. If you use the pen tool (GIMP, I'm not sure if this is standard for other art prgrams) with a thinner line and lowered pressure sensability, the slightly thinning/thickening lines adds a nice touch to your art.
Sometime the pen is not responsive, and the line appearing on my screen is delayed and lagging. This has only happened three times (or so) throughout the time I've had it, but I believe this is actually due to GIMP or my computer being bogged down. This is issue has corrected itself after i stop drawing for a few minutes and the computer is able to get back on its feet (in a sense). Once the tablet entirely froze up and I couldnt get any responce from it, so I removed the pen tablet and shut off my computer. When I turned it back on, I plugged in the pen tablet, and it worked fine.
All in all, I 100% recommend this product to anyone who's looking. Though the price did intimidate me at first, I soon discovered its entirely worth it.

I'm learning how to use the Bamboo Tablet. As I'm getting to know it I'm really liking it. My only downside is it is not functional with Excel which is a bummer. Otherwise, it's mostly me figuring how to use it effectively. A great alternative to give my hands a break.

I use my tablet for painting in Photoshop.
It's incredibly responsive, surprisingly attractive (my friends say it looks like an iPad) and makes precise movements easy. Without a tablet, painting in Photoshop is just not possible.

Comments about Wacom Bamboo Pen & Touch Digital Tablet:
This is an amazing tool. I have arthritic hands and need a lightweight, responsive input tool. I had been using one of the very early Graphire tablets, but it was not compatible with my upgrade to Windows 7, so I replaced it with the Bamboo Pen & Touch. My goodness, what a step up from the rudimentary old Graphire! It does so much more. The active area translates more accurately to the area of the monitor. The stylus is light and comfortable to use...or I can just use my fingers to do everything I'd do with a bulkier mouse. I love the ability to scrawl text on the writing pad and have the tablet translate that to type in a document. I'm using it now to input this review. In no time at all it learned to interpret my writing. Thumbs up for the Bamboo Pen & Touch Tablet and to B&H's reasonable pricing [...]

Seems good as a pen tablet but as a touch pad does not seem dependable. With touch the mouse occasionally seems to disappear or jump erratically.

I use this product to edit art photos. For a long time I resisted getting a pressure sensitive tablet. Now I wouldn't be without it. Have you ever tried signing yor name with a mouse? It's the wrong tool for the job. Just as signing is awkward with a mouse, so is using the clone to shade fill toward an edge or any job that requires a bit of precision.
I considered a larger tablet, but as I'm not doing free-hand drawing with it, additional size is unnecessary, makes mousing much harder, and takes up valuable desk space. Unless you are drawing with your whole arm, the small size is an advantage.
NOTE: The instructions say nothing about setting Photoshop brushes to get the most from the pressure sensitive pen. When it arrived Photoshop brushes were set so the line got broader rather than darker with added pressure. However, a search on the internet turned up a third party video that explained how to make those settings.

I intended to use for Photoshop where I needed to be more exact/accurate - this device did not allow that and I will probably chalk it up to experience.. When getting another device, I will try it out first.
Also installs app (Bamboo dock) in background that runs all the time, and requests access to internet every time I start up - annoying.

I got this because I work a lot with Photoshop and the like and thought getting used to one of those might improve my workflow.
The tablet is built well, drivers are easy to install and comprehendable.
Only downside for me was the driver didn't support switching between monitors. This only leaves the option to use both monitors at the same time (which is pants) or one monitor at a time with quite some menu digging to switch.
This turned out to be a pain, because I keep the picture on one monitor, and my palettes on the other. On the web, I found out that this feature is exclusive to the far more expensive Intuos tablets, hence, only 4 stars from me

Easy to use, short learning curve, and under priced in my opinion!
I'm a Architecture/Interior design student that uses more software than most, and needed a way to harness my abilities on the computer more efficiently and this helped 10 fold, my portfolio is looking flawless now and my Art has changed! i no longer drag out my paint supplies. if reviews help anyone- read this one! you would be a fool not to buy this! Hi, first of all, I bought this product because I had never had a graphics tablet and because the mouse is not accurate for drawing or for precise details. This graphics tablet however, feels like pen on paper and will give you very accurate results. One of the good things is that you can rest you palm on the surface of the graphics tablet because you can disable touch so that it doesn't interfere with what your doing. I use this product for drawing and for touching up photos. It is a good product overall and I recommend it to anyone who is interested in drawing and photo editing.

I purchased the tablet to do more detailed photo restoration work. The pen tool works so well. I use the touch component to navigate around the workspace, which is a fun feature but I use the pen more of the time. Great tool for a great price!

Comments about Wacom Bamboo Pen & Touch Digital Tablet:
This is great for anything where you might need more control over your computer but attention mac users the touch pad doesn't work with commands like you would have access to with the mac touch pad; if that is half the reason you want this one... go with the cheaper model that only does the pen and stylus feature.. If you don't care about that feature then it really is perfect.. Easy to use and learn..
