Comments about Aluratek eSATA USB 2.0 2.5" / 3.5" SATA Hard Drive Docking Enclosure Hub:
I received this unit and attempted to use on two different Win 7 64 machines. It wouldn't recognize any drives. The lights were on but nothing in the control panel would indicate a drive was attached. So either the unit was dead or my drive was dead. I opened a ticket with Aluratek, and a response was promised within 24 hours. I havn't had a response with in that time period. I guess the unit works great for some people, but not others, such as myself. For the other posters, did you use the device on 64 bit machines? The manual doesn't state clearly if the USB needs to be connected or not for the drive stuff to be functioning. Because my unit doesn't appear to work with or without USB attached, I can not tell.

Comments about Aluratek eSATA USB 2.0 2.5" / 3.5" SATA Hard Drive Docking Enclosure Hub:
Recently my desktop died, and I needed to recover my documents and backup important data. This hard drive dock made the process quick and easy. The eSata connection handled file transfers extremely well and swapping drives was surprisingly easy. The extra USB ports were a nice extra.

Comments about Aluratek eSATA USB 2.0 2.5" / 3.5" SATA Hard Drive Docking Enclosure Hub:
I used this docking station to use a solid state SATA drive for video editing. File rendering was fater than standard SATA 7200 rpm drive. Also great for computer system recovery from backup image. Only issue is that USB hub funcion only works when docking station is connected to the computer via USB not with eSTAT connection. Looks strange but works great.

I've only had it for a few weeks but it seems to provide secure data transfer with a variety of drives. I have it hooked up to the SATA port and the speed seems decent so far.
