The days of focusing on the LCD screen and being disconnected from the action are over. John Hurst's Camcist is a camcorder aiming device that allows you to capture video while enjoying the event at the same time. The Camcist frame connects to the camcorder's tripod mount, giving you a large window to look through for recording while allowing you to watch everything with your own eyes. The LCD is completely removed from the equation, meaning you'll also remove the eye strain and screen glare associated with LCD use.

A soccer-mom friend was using this at one of my son's games and I couldn't believe someone hadn't thought of it before. I was so sick of looking through the LCD to tape my son's games, that I was barely bringing my camcorder to any of his events anymore. Once I got the Camcist, I was able to relax and enjoy the game knowing that everything was being captured perfectly (and the battery wasn't winding down). This is inexpensive and works great. The only thing it doesn't do is fold up for easy storage, but I just take it off and it fits in my carrier bag just fine. Not a big deal in the scheme of things.
