This laptop is great. It runs fast and multitasks well. It's just that the monitor is very hard to see unless I tilt it at a very odd angle. Weird ...

Comments about Acer Aspire AS5538-1096 Notebook Computer:
So far, I've been very happy with my Acer. It's a good balance between portability and power. If only I could get my boyfriend to put it down so I could use it to finish my homework.

Comments about Acer Aspire AS5538-1096 Notebook Computer:
I use this computer at work and at home - all the MS office stuff as usual, skype, facebook, firefox/thunderbird.
Used a Windows Transfer cable to move all my files (curiously it moved my Firefox profile - not Thunderbird - did that manually)
Windows 7 is a dream. In about 2 hours after unpacking I had transferred all my stuff from my XP (profiles, settings, docs) and was up and running.
Had a few kinks with Skype - one needs toi be careful to run most of this kind of program as an administrator so that the computer allows itself to write to files.
But otherwise the Acer is top notch all around (I bought this to replace my old Travelmate 800).
Will be buying the 11" screen version for travelling!
