Honest Technology's VHS to DVD 4.0 Deluxe is more than just the perfect bridge between the analog world of VHS, LPs, or cassettes and today's digital media. Along with providing an easy, step-by-step method for turning your old home videos into DVDs or records into CDs, the VHS to DVD 4.0 Deluxe also directly copies footage from your HDV/DV or analog camcorder onto a Blu-ray disc for high-definition viewing. You can even edit out bad footage and add transitions and effects along the way.
At the center of this process is the included VIDBOX, which requires only a USB 2.0 cable to power it up, making it ideal for use with laptop computers. Just connect it to your VCR, camcorder or turntable via S-Video or RCA cables, then output to your computer with the provided USB cable. The included software will take you from there.
Whether you want to burn to disc, export to YouTube, or add media to your iPod, the VHS to DVD Deluxe 4.0 is the all-in-one solution for upgrading your analog memories and music into the digital here and now.

Comments about Honest Technology VHS to DVD 4.0 Deluxe:
I bought this product not sure if it would work or how difficult it would be to use. It's easy. Once you set it up on your computer and plug in the cables to the device your recording from, the software installed on the computer asks you to selection the options you want and then it starts converting. It then burns it to the DVD in your computer.
The first tape I copied had almost two hours on it. The software went up to about an hour or so and then I needed to use a second DVD, which isn't a problem, but it's good to know to expect that.
The quality of the copied picture surprised me. It was quite good, as was the sound. (You are asked to selects the quality of the copy.)
I haven't tried it yet, but it's supposed to copy audio tapes as well, which is an added benefit if you are like me and have a library of cassettes in addition to my current collection of CDs. I at least have an option now to convert those tapes.
The only downside, and this is to be expected, is that it copies in real time, which can take a while, and it will need to use your computer during that time, although you can multi-task.
I use Windows 7. The product came with a disk that had an earlier version of Windows. I emailed the manufacturer with a question about how to update the software to 7. Got a prompt response with a link to a site to download an update. I did that, then installed the software, and it all worked.
I can now give copies of our family videos to others, which is what prompted me to buy this. I will also use this for business purposes as well.
