Batman suit to for your 5D II
Overall, the product is fantastic for people like myself who travel a lot and are a bit rough with their equipment! I'm not a professional photographer but love my 5D II dearly.
Overall, the product is fantastic for people like myself who travel a lot and are a bit rough with their equipment! I'm not a professional photographer but love my 5D II dearly.
Things that are great:
- Overall a very snug fit to the 5D II body.
- 5D II now looks like batman.
- Easy to install.
- Covers all the 'obvious' and 'flashy' camera labels. Helps with inconspicuous travelling.
- Very solid feel and tough.
- Protects the LCD screen.
- Rubber base plate fits very tightly.
Things not so great:
- May make 5DII too bulky for people with small hands.
- Flap that covers battery area can be annoying.
- Lens armour pretty much useless?
- May need modification for battery grip (I don't have one).
- Some debris inside the box. Make sure body cap on first before installing.
- Makes the top panel buttons and other buttons harder to access.
NB: Not field tested yet!

I just received my camera armor and right out of the box, upon attempting to remove the bottom cover, one of the cheap rubber studs that connects the bottom cover to the armor body just ripped off. You'd think with a name like camera armor it would be a little stronger than that. Also to attach anything to the bottom of the camera you have to use an 1/4-20 adapter stud that comes with it, which is acceptable until I tried to attach my juiced link DT-454 to the bottom in which case I could not get it to secure to the bottom of the camera in a way that would keep the juiced link from spinning loosely on the bottom of the camera. Also it makes the camera way bulky and it definitely impedes the speed to which I can change cards and batteries, which when shooting live events is a big deal. I will not use this armor for personal use, but will use it when renting out my camera just to cover my backside. Also the lens armor seems a little silly to me, especially the sticky pad that is used to connect your lens cap to. Who wants a dangling lense cap when you are out shooting?

Comments about Camera Armor Digital SLR Skin:
I love this Camera Armour but let me state it is not perfect. This is my second as I also have it on my older camera. It really does protect your camera from daily wear but at a cost. It makes the camera a little harder to use. The 5D MkII version doesn't fit perfectly and interferes with easy use of the wheel behind the shutter button. Also, if you have snug fitting camera case you will need a bigger one as it does make the camera noticeably larger. The lens armour that comes with it is a joke so I gave it to my 3 year old to play with. But it suits my rough and tumble lifestyle as my older camera still looks like new and I expect my new one to be like new in 4 years time as well.
Once again it was also a great deal at B&H being a little over 1/3rd the price I could buy it for in Australia

Comments about Camera Armor Digital SLR Skin:
Easy to put on, with only a little fuss. You do have to get used to it, once on, since the feel of the camera is different. But, I find the camera fully functional.
I am never going to intentionally bang my camera around, so I do not plan to fully test the skin, but it is obvious the skin provides an extra measure of protection.
It looks cool and, since it covers the camera insignia, I am perfectly happy to not be advertising the fact that I have a $2500 camera (w/ $1300 lense) around my neck.

Comments about Camera Armor Digital SLR Skin:
I gave this one a pretty good effort. For me, in my hands, it feels rather clumsy. The aging 35mm never had one, nor did the aging 4X5 mono-rail, nor did the aging photographer! I couldn't get used to it.
The silicone rubber is a very good electrical insulator, so a static charge accumulates and remains upon it, attracting dust as well as strange little bits of stuff. It is also a good shock absorber but I just couldn't bring myself to fling a brand new camera on the floor to test it.
It seems well-thought-out, reasonably priced and for the sports photographer or technical rock climber a camera-saver.

Comments about Camera Armor Digital SLR Skin:
Camera armor is tough and durable but I was unable to fit the bottom section of the armor kit covering the camera battery compartment in place (the bottom section would not stay on). In addition, the lens hood would not fit. However, I was able to get the kit on the remainder of the camera whick offered some protection. Given the price, an OK purchase.

Does what promises, even it is a little bit too bulky and heavy. Nice feel. About the plastic cover of the screen, it is made by poor plastic...

Comments about Camera Armor Digital SLR Skin:
Armor fits very snugly.
Doesnt interfere with functions of the camera body at all. Section that fits over the lens interferes with manually focusing a little.
Don't want to test it, but appears it will protect the camera well in event of an accident.

Comments about Camera Armor Digital SLR Skin:
dust and sand actually stick to it (even attracts it)! some kind of strange rubber. You will need to cut-out around several controls, making it weak, eventually breaks. Lens hood doesn't work too well with 24-105.Armor doesn't work with tripod mount, more cutting required. Had to abandon mine, just not well designed.

Comments about Camera Armor Digital SLR Skin:
After banging around my Canon 40D and getting it wet several times, I decided to protect my brand new Canon 5D Mark II, before I took it birding in jungles and snow. Camera Armor seems to be the ticket. While installing it around the camera I managed to cause a small tear in the rubber, but I don't think it will affect the protection. I have not trouble accessing the buttons and dials or getting out the battery and memory card. I don't expect this will waterproof my camera, but it will make me feel less concerned about mist and light rain falling on the camera.

Comments about Camera Armor Digital SLR Skin:
I'd always prefer to use my 5D Mark II naked, but when I'm chasing around the little guy or hiking some rough terrain I would rather not worry about banging into a rock.
I had the one they made a few years ago for my 5D and didn't like it. This has so many feature improvements it's much easier to use. It's a small price to pay that the buttons are a little harder to use to know I'm not going to crack the screen, etc.

Comments about Camera Armor Digital SLR Skin:
Provides additional protection when out and about...only downside is it adds to overall size of camera (reason down to 4 stars). For example, it's harder to fit fingers in between grip / handle of camera. Otherwise, excellant cheap protection for expensive equipment.

Not only great protection, it's great way to conceal the fact that you're holding a $2500 camera. Just a little added security.

Comments about Camera Armor Digital SLR Skin:
The skin is easy to put on, and protects all the critical areas of the camera. It makes the camera easier to grip, and covers the Canon logo and the model number.
My only complains are that it's a dust magnet, and the multi-controller is difficult to rock towards the left because of the were the skin ends.

Comments about Camera Armor Digital SLR Skin:
The Camera Armor on my Canon 5D Mark II is rather successful, I believe. At first I was not so sure, given that some of the Body Armor seemed to make reaching all the controls a tad difficult. However after a few days working with the Armor on I'm totally facile and don't have to even think about it. It works. I leave the base cover open over the battery compartment side to facilitate quick battery changes. That's due to the struggle to "snap" everything into place the first time. Since I wonk in "dangerous" places, aka on boats, in rain forests, and many wet locations, this is something I actually needed long ago. (I've paid too much for water related camera repairs,) And to keep my camera bodies ding free, this is clearly the answer. -Tom Moody

Comments about Camera Armor Digital SLR Skin:
I had no problem with getting this to fit over my 5D. All the windows and button icons lineup with displays and buttons perfectly. Unlike other rubberized "camera condoms" this has button icons marked in white, making it easy to locate the appropriate function. I also like that it covers a logo, which I've heard reduces the chance of theft. The only thing I might change is to make the rubber bridge behind the shutter speed dial thinner so that the dial does not rub against the rubber bridge.
