The 1TB BlackArmor NAS 110 Network Hard Drive from Seagate is a network storage system, designed for use in networks with 10 or fewer clients. The drive supports network backup, data encryption, and system recovery via the included SafetyDrill+ software package. The drive is compatible with Mac and Windows client systems.
You'll be able to manage data stored on the drive via the web-based BlackArmor Discovery tool. A single click allows you to access shared volumes or back up the computer on which you're working. You can connect external USB 2.0 drives and digital cameras to the NAS, backing up the data stored on them via the OneTouch button. You can even stream media stored on the NAS to DLNA certified devices or computers with iTunes.

I can make backups, but then BlackArmor crashes my Windows XP system.

I have used a USB external hard drive before and I found that sharing data between multiple computers to be a huge hassle in the long run. With this network hard drive it is easy to share data between all my computers at once. It streams music and files quickly between all my computers and even HD video.
The only con I have is that the manual is hidden on the install disk and not printed out. I do highly recommend reading the manual first so you can configure it for your own needs.
