Don't have room for a big stereo system, but still want to crank up your tunes when the mood strikes? If so, you want the JVC UX-LP5 CD Micro Component System. The three-piece system plays CD and CD-R/RW discs, and digital files in the MP3 and WMA formats with their respective ID3 and WMA tags.
To listen to your iPod instead, place it in the JVC's Flip Dock and control it through the stereo system's remote control. You'll be amazed at the sound.
For conventional listeners, the micro component system has a built-in AM/FM radio for music, sports, news, and talk programs. Programming your favorite stations is easy with the JVC's 15 AM and 30 FM presets. And when you want to listen to the music on another portable audio or cassette player, just plug it into the unit's analog audio jack.
You'll enjoy room-filling sound over the system's two-way bass-reflex speakers, and you can tailor the music to your tastes with the electronic bass/treble tone controls and Hyper-Bass Sound function.
Like to wake up to the sounds of your choice? The built-in clock/timer lets you choose from CD, iPod, or AM/FM tuner. It's all operated from the full-function remote control, so you don't have to leave the comfort of your favorite chair to take charge of your tunes.
If you're a big music fan, but don't have the space or the budget to match, the JVC UX-LP5 is the ideal solution to keep you entertained for years to come.

Comments about JVC UX-LP5 CD Micro Component System:
I purchased this JVC unit for occasional CD playback in our bedroom. The good-- its appearance and sound quality. It comes with decent speakers. The bad-- where do I begin? Re-setting clock with remote could be troublesome and take numerous attempts. OK, I can live with that. Machine is slow to cue-up CD's. Again, not the end of the world. Product life? VERY BAD. Little more than a year after purchase, CD's will no longer play. I threw the unit out last night. This was my first and will be my only JVC purchase. Too bad my trusty Philips unit-- which lasted 7 years- is no longer being made. So, I'm AGAIN ordering a CD stereo from B&H. But guess which one it won't be? Buy at your own risk.

Comments about JVC UX-LP5 CD Micro Component System:
Product is used to play music and radio in a condo living room.
System looks great, appears well-built (typical of other JVC items I've owned), and has almost enough features to make it great for the price. Speakers are good quality for price (tested by turning volume up to max. with no background noise, on one of the auxillary inputs with nothing playing - very little 'static' sound).
However, it is difficult to get good bass response from this unit. Listen primarily to orchestral, folk, blue-grass and rock. Testing the system with a classical piece with great dynamic range, the mid and treble sound great but just can't seem to get the bass to level out!
Overall, it's an okay system for listening passively to the news on the radio (NPR) but not the best for music...

Comments about JVC UX-LP5 CD Micro Component System:
I bought this as a present for my classical music loving 90 year old mom (who still plays violin in a regional orchestra!), so I wanted a system that wouldn't be intimidating in size, appearance, or ease of use. So far, the gift is a hit. She likes the sound, the compact setup, and, so far, she's been able to operate it pretty well. This system would be especially good for someone who needs a fairly simple to operate system, doesn't require a lot of bells and whistles, and would be satisfied with very good audio quality rather than outstanding (i.e., isn't an audiophile). One thing I would improve would be to make the controls larger and easier to see.

These mini-stereo systems have come a long way since my previous machine rolled off the assembly line a dozen years ago.
Sounds great, nice eco-friendly dimmer light feature. A best buy for the money.

Comments about JVC UX-LP5 CD Micro Component System:
We bought these for our 10 and 7 year olds for Christmas. They love the ipod dock and the remote control. I love the nice crisp sound. It's easy enough for the kids to use, powerful enough to sound good at medium high volume (without blasting me out of the house,) and it's very compact. We are very pleased with them. No problems at all!
