I would definitely recommend this product. The product feels well made and is very slick looking (literally with the glossy paint job). I haven't upgraded to 2gb since it seems to be doing well with 1gb. I did however load an older version of Office (2003) since that version was designed for a machines with 1gb or less. Word, Excel, and Outlook perform very well. Even though the battery life is rated at 10.5 hours, though I believe using the machine with normal operation you'll probably get around 8 hours. Of course trying to stream video becomes a little choppy, like Hulu.

This is my travel computer; I have a full size laptop for all my regular work. The Asus Eee PC Netbook is exactly as described in the product literature. It is great for email, general surfing of the internet but is probably a little slow for gaming which I don't do. I worked right out of the box (after a little charging) and after a full charge keeps going seemingly forever (at least 10 hours). An excellent buy.

not much diference than my acer one i had before other than the screen is bigger the battery better N wifi....but it doesnt recognize the N signal from 2 places i know they have it...the web cam didnt worked after 3 months i has a driver problem i download from asus the driver still doesnt work...look it up many people have the same problem the resolution is the same as acer one 1280x600 but this is a bigger screen so the video card wont give higher choice only 1280x768 that makes scrolls up and down.."it does Not" come with a cd with windows i got the xp version this is 7 but on the xp version they say it had a backup factory reset partition on the hard drive but when i really needed it didnt work cause i had a virus recently i needed to reinstall windows but asus wont send me a copy i requested not even sell it to me i know the asus 1001 comes with one [...].i got a trojan remover and a full version antivirus and that way i got it working but the hidden backup they say it had still doesnt work by restarting and pressing f9 many times..now cause they didnt helped me..it still have a warranty so im sending the netbook back for them to do a windows reinstall so the webcam Nwifi and backup/restore fix work properly..im gonna try to sell it..ahh!!and carefull with the eee sign on the lid it came off a little and when i reached for it cut my finger deep and it bleed for 10 minutes that eee is like a blade and is metal believe me it left a scar on my finger..but now the price is [$] less than when it got it so now is a good bargain but i got it 7 months ago i couldnt wait that long for a bargain

Great computer. The size of the screen is perfect for someone who need to carry it all the time and wants to read on it easily.
The hard drive has already 2 partitions, very good idea to save your data from the OS.
It losts its last star because of the memory which really need to be at 2GB.

Workded great out of the box. Battery life is outstanding. Only knock is that the crystal black case shows finger prints. If finger prints bother you try another color

I am so glad that my husband and I decided to buy this laptop while sightseeing in NY. It actually works very well. It was recommended by the store clerk and we are very happy with it. I wonder if it is anything to do with our upgrade to 2GB. We have travelled from NY, Seattle, Hawaii and then Asia. This laptop has been accompanied with us for about two and half months and it works well everywhere we go. Easy to use and light to carry.

I use the netbook in my bed and also at coffe shops at my home town.

t is light and beutiful and the cnnecity through Wi Fi is very good.
I also must say that the battery holds for a long time and the super peformance mode is very usefull when your AC adapter connected.

thins that are not great:
The material they made he noteook from - the blak coer looks great, hoever, the fingerprins on every surface you touch leave mar every time and you keep cleaning it up every time...

I use this computer as support of a "real" one, no hi-demanding softwares loaded but perfect for file storage, office tools, every-day applications, internet, and movie playing.
I was a bit afraid of speed processing during DivX movies playing, because I heard about some lacks from this point of view. I tried some in full screen and battery alimentation and no problems: the movie was fluid and smooth!

Battery: actually is one of the longest-life models around, I really used it for hours before the battery drained, in various condition (with and w/out wifi, movies, pictures editing).

Display res could be better, but in line with the other producers, and the price is quite attractive as well.

My package offered also an online 500GB space in ASUS servers, for storage, backup and sync.
500 Gb is quite a big extra storage but personally I think is quite difficult to handle large files through the internet (especially in case of backup with files changing often).

Portability: the generous battery increases a bit the width of the rear part and makes the overall dimensions maybe bigger than other netbooks, but still very portable, with the included soft case!

Product was bought mainly for skype use and pictures download. It works perfect for those meanings, even with the 1GB memory slowing it down a bit, it is definitely a great cost/benefit.
It is also slim, its battery life is great and its included case is also a plus.

Bought to replace my IBM Thinkpad for business travel when less weight counts. Battery life, portability, and ease of use all contribute to the positive aspects of this PC. Plus, the memory is expandable to 2gB to assist with running programs like AutoCad.
Only downside is lack of software. Would be great if it came email-ready to hit the road.

I bought this for my husband who travels, because it is very light weight, has a comfortable keyboard, has excellent battery life, and comes with Windows 7. He is thrilled. The keyboard has been very easy for him to use, even with very large hands and if he neglects to plug it in the battery goes on and on.

I use the Eee PC 1005HA for internet, email, music, and video playback. I love the size and portability. Oddly enough, I'm having less typos with the 92% keyboard than with a standard size one. It's just the right size for the kids to use too! Totally enjoy the two finger scroll feature on the touchpad! So much better than the scroll strip on the side of my laptop. After my first Windows update the touchpad didn't work right, so I had to go to the ASUS website and reinstall the touchpad driver.
I upgraded to 2GB memory out of the box, and it handles websites with streaming audio or video without stalling or choking up. Purchased an external optical drive too. Taught my daughter how to make a mix cd without problems, but the stripped down version of Windows 7 won't recognize DVD's, so I had to download some media player software to make it work. Also, had to go to the ASUS website to get a system utility to change the desktop background. Didn't want to be stuck with the windows logo forever.
Overall, I find this product to be pretty sweet. Good all around computer for a casual home user like myself, and a good starter for the kids too!

This little computer has surprised me more every day. The keyboard has turned out to better than expected and screen size is just fine. It's portability just blows me away. I barely feel the extra weight in my briefcase. I have found it most useful as secondary computer where internet surfing on a smartphone just isn't enough. The battery life is pretty great. Maybe not the 10 hours advertised, but better than any other laptop i've had in the past. So far I've gotten up to 8 hours of battery life. The only bad thing I can think of is that Windows 7 Starter leaves something to be desired. Although it lacks many of the great features of more robust Windows 7 editions, it runs smoothly.
