Super easy to use very little setup time. Does just what it is advertised to do. Fun to see not only the pictures you took but exactly where you took them on a map.

The equipment is really a very usefull tool, but trying to get more money from you to buy a Pro license of a program that should have come with it since the beggining is not honest. The strap is not very secure since it depends on the lid to stay closed.

Comments about GiSTEQ CD111 PhotoTrackr Geo-Mapping Device:
The tracking device works itself works great and I couldn't be more satisfied with how easy and portable it is. It easily fits in my pocket with no apparent loss of reception and even located and locked in satellites from inside structures in many instances. It worked well with my kayaking trip along the coast as well as a trip to the mountains.Unfortunately, I found it to be difficult to understand how to best use the product because the instructions left a lot to be desired, especially for a Mac user. Since I use Aperture 3, it took a lot of internet searching to problem-solve particular situations (I still don't know if there is an easier way than the multi-step process I used between Aperture and GiSTEQ's Phototrackr software...I even upgraded to the Pro version for an additional [$] so it would work with RAW).In the end, I would certainly recommend this device, if for no other reason than it beats Canon's alternatives for geotagging images.

Comments about GiSTEQ CD111 PhotoTrackr Geo-Mapping Device:
Yes it works with PC & Mac, yes battery charge lasts about 36 hours, yes it does what it says it does, yes the directions are a really bad translation, and yes the software is horrible. It is about the size of my old beeper, I just throw it in my bag as I walk around (on a month long business trip around Asia) taking pictures. I feel the quality is just a little below what I was hoping for, the mini usb connector is a bit finicky

Comments about GiSTEQ CD111 PhotoTrackr Geo-Mapping Device:
I bought the CD111 GiSTEQ photo tracker because I've always loved maps and geography as well as photography.
First off I'll start with the software. It was a little quirky, not very intuitive and the directions included were of little help. I was able to figure it all out but was not the best it could have been. I use Flickr to post my photos and it integrated well with the site. After I had the tracker and software for a while I was prompted to upgrade the software to the newest version. When I did ALL PREVIOUS LOG FILES WERE LOST! I lost all the previous trips I had entered into the software!!!!Arrrrgh! Talk about frustration!
OK, the GiSTEQ unit itself: It comes with a lanyard which is held in place by the battery door. Problem is the battery door is thin and cheap and does not snap into place very well. I ended up putting a piece of tape on it to keep it in place. A clip would be better than a lanyard so you could clip it on your belt, camera strap or other equipment. Setting up the unit is fairly east but figuring out all the modes such as "sound on-sound off" was difficult. I ended up using the unit almost every time I went out on photography adventures. With it you can carry multiple cameras and as long as all the times on the cameras are in sync with the GiSTEQ unit all photos can be geotagged. I found the car charger very helpful.
Suddenly one day the unit stopped working. It had not been exposed to any water, heat, or other environmental element that might effect it, it just stopped working. Problem is I got so used to having it with me and tagging my photos I feel lost without it. I'm here to order a new unit but am going with the GiSTEQ-mini

Comments about GiSTEQ CD111 PhotoTrackr Geo-Mapping Device:
There are a lot of things wrong with this product, but mostly they are small things. The device seems lacking in foresight as to what a conventional user may want most - the lighting scheme is slightly confusing, the sound is obnoxious, the keys are not labelled, and the software seems a little less than streamlined. But, once you spend several hours with it, you'll tend to forget those small annoyances and get used to using the thing for what it was made for - mapping. And as such, I have no complaints about its performance as a Geo-mapping device.
