The Impact Umbrella Bracket with Adjustable Shoe is a versatile, lightweight metal bracket that will fit on almost any light stand. It includes a removable, reversible female stud to adapt to light stands with top studs smaller than the standard 5/8". An additional removable, reversible male stud mounts to the included flash shoe at the 1/4"-20 end, or to another accessory at the 3/8" end. The metal shoe features a knurled locking knob for secure mounting of all shoe-mount flashes including the Nikon SB-900.
A receptacle with its own locking knob accommodates an umbrella which may be tilted to the angle of your choice via the bracket's locking joint.

I called up B&H to buy a softbox for my speedlight and I needed an umbrella bracket to make it tilt. The rep suggested this bracket and I can't be more pleased. The small headed screws are nice if you don't want to pull and reposition the larger levers on other modelsIt is completely made of metal and quite durable. Not the most robust for larger lights but I shoot mostly with speedlights and it holds a 24x24in softbox with a radio trigger bracket.I ordered a plastic version from an online monopoly with a large lever handle for the main tilt screw. I paid a few bucks less and it was no where near the quality. I was very please with this bracket for its versatility and compactness. It's small in my camera bag that keeps getting heavier and heavier.[...]

Comments about Impact Umbrella Bracket with Adjustable Shoe:
I use two of these with umbrellas and Nikon SB-700 flashes. The Nikon flashes don't come with an adequate way to mount them to a stand, which is the whole point of having a remote flash. This product fills a gap that Nikon ignored in their CLS. It was well designed to allow a wide range of angles and configurations, with or without an umbrella. I often use a translucent umbrella to give a light box effect but easier setup. I only use the setup indoors so I don't know how it would hold up in a demanding outdoor windy environment. The only possible negative is that unlike a hot-shoe on a camera, the flash can't be "locked" in the sense of impossible to get off in the locked position; you are dependent on the tightness knob on the bracket to avoid disaster, as it could slip either forward or back if tilted if not tight enough. Yet so far, no problems and it appears that the tightness knob is enough to hold it in position.

Comments about Impact Umbrella Bracket with Adjustable Shoe:
These things are simple to use, easy to adjust, and let me focus on the best way to light the subject instead of trying to put a Speedlite on a ladder step, bookcase, etc. The ONLY drawback, as others have noted, is you can't adjust the Speedlite angle relative to an umbrella. However, it's a minor inconvenience for a product I feel is a great value overall.

My lighting is simple, mostly shooting a SB600 into an umbrella.

Love this!!! I use it to hold a second remote flash. It makes lighting on-the-go much easier than bringing an entire light kit with me. Lighter weight and quicker to set up. I found this to be very sturdy and reliable and it's a definite asset to the equipment I take with me to a remote shoot.
