The Impact Umbrella Bracket with Adjustable Shoe is a versatile, lightweight metal bracket that will fit on almost any light stand. It includes a removable, reversible female stud to adapt to light stands with top studs smaller than the standard 5/8". An additional removable, reversible male stud mounts to the included flash shoe at the 1/4"-20 end, or to another accessory at the 3/8" end. The metal shoe features a knurled locking knob for secure mounting of all shoe-mount flashes including the Nikon SB-900.
A receptacle with its own locking knob accommodates an umbrella which may be tilted to the angle of your choice via the bracket's locking joint.

I called up B&H to buy a softbox for my speedlight and I needed an umbrella bracket to make it tilt. The rep suggested this bracket and I can't be more pleased. The small headed screws are nice if you don't want to pull and reposition the larger levers on other modelsIt is completely made of metal and quite durable. Not the most robust for larger lights but I shoot mostly with speedlights and it holds a 24x24in softbox with a radio trigger bracket.I ordered a plastic version from an online monopoly with a large lever handle for the main tilt screw. I paid a few bucks less and it was no where near the quality. I was very please with this bracket for its versatility and compactness. It's small in my camera bag that keeps getting heavier and heavier.[...]

I use this on my 8' light stand with radio triggers, flash and a 30" softbox/umbrella. I like the fact that it can be used for both umbrella or softbox by putting in or removing the stud/cold-shoe on top. This has worked fine with the softbox so far, but it feels like it's being slightly overextended as far as the weight load goes, and this is just with a camera flash. I always make doubly sure that the tilt adjustment screw is as tight as possible because it feels like it could slip.
This is not as big of an issue with the much lighter umbrella; however, the way I have my flash set up (radio trigger slots into the cold-shoe on top of the bracket, and then my flash slots on top of the trigger) means that the flash head points nowhere near the center of the umbrella; at best, it points halfway between the center and the outer rim of the umbrella, even when the flash itself is set to the -7 degree tilt angle. This may just be a result of my particular setup, but it would be nice to have some control over the angle of the umbrella independently of the angle of the bracket itself.
This will work fine for now, and may be ideal for other setups, but I am looking into a stockier, beefier bracket with some form of independent umbrella angle adjustment. I think these factors would outweigh the convenience of this bracket's adaptability as far as connectivity are concerned.

I've been learning to use off camera flash and didn't have anything appropriate to hold the flash. This fits on top of my old tripod and holds the flash in any position. It works great and is all metal and I won't be buying another for a long time.

Comments about Impact Umbrella Bracket with Adjustable Shoe:
I had an off-site fashion shoot and needed a new umbrella bracket for mounting a Canon Speedlite. Ordered this from B&H and used it the day I got it. It's easy to set up and use. I love the all-metal construction. It's sturdy with tight tolerances. Impact did it right - affordable and good quality. Watch out when tightening set screw on umbrella. You can easily notch/bend rod if you over-tighten.

Comments about Impact Umbrella Bracket with Adjustable Shoe:
Very solid build and very versatile. The ability to use it to mount female or male connectors into it, plus a cold shoe mount make it a jack of all mounts. I use it to mount small lights that would normally go on a camera cold shoe for accent lighting and also as a way to mount an external camera monitor. Works great.

Comments about Impact Umbrella Bracket with Adjustable Shoe:
I really like this bracket. It is so versatile. The bottom has a removable brass section with 1/4 & 3/8 inch female threads, If you remove it, you can attach the bracket directly to any standard 5/8 inch stud light stand, like the Impact 8 ft stand I bought. If you leave the brass section in, you can attach it to any tripod with either 1/4 or 3/8 inch threads, thus this bracket will attach to any tripod or any light stand. On the top of the bracket there is a second removable brass stud with 1/4 & 3/8 inch male threads so lights or accessories that attach with threads can be attached. In addition there is a nicely designed adjustable shoe which screws onto the 1/4 threaded brass section to mount any type of speedlight. Last of all the two removable brass sections can both be removed & screwed together & put back into the top part of the umbrella bracket. When you do this it puts a 5/8 inch stud at the top for mounting large lights that mount to 5/8 inch studs. You can mount any umbrella in the upward tilting slot & lock it securely. The umbrella can then be tilted to any direction & easily locked into position. The whole bracket can even be mounted sideways because it has a second sideways mounting slot for 5/8 inch studs. What more could you ask for in an umbrella bracket?
The only problem I ran into is that my old Vivitar slaves would not mount securely to the shoe mount because they are a little smaller than most speedlight shoes. I had to take the bracket shoe apart & carefully file it down in two places to make it close a little smaller, now it works perfect with anything I put in it. There are 2 small springs that you have to be sure you don't lose when you do this & I had a problem with filings clogging up the female threads. I fixed that by spraying in some WD40 in the holes, putting machine oil on the male screw & screwing it in. That cleaned out the filings that were clogging the female threads. The manufacturer could easily make the shoe close just a little smaller to eliminate this problem but I am pretty handy so I fixed it myself. I feel that most speedlights will fit with no adjustments whatever.

I love the metal vs. other plastic bracket. Does a great job holding my Flex TT5 and SB-910. Dropped a star since the cold shoe doesn't square up with the umbrella mount. I haven't played around with this issue, but I'm sure it's a simple fix, maybe with a washer.

Comments about Impact Umbrella Bracket with Adjustable Shoe:
This is a good quality bracket. First of all, its metal construction makes it strong and durable. I have hung up to a 60" umbrella off this bracket, and even though this may be pushing it, I've had no problems. Second, the shoe is adjustable with a set screw, for a nice tight fit. So you will never have to worry that your expensive speedlight is going to detach itself and crash to the ground the minute the stand is bumped or moved.
Easily attaches to just about any light stand, and easily adjustable to whatever angle you need. Use it with confidence.

Comments about Impact Umbrella Bracket with Adjustable Shoe:
I purchased two of these to go with two Impact 6' light stands for off camera flash. They work exactly as described and I have no problems with them at all. They material they are made of is extremely durable. The included hot shoe adaptor for speedlite's is strong and I am not worried about them slipping out from any angle I point.
I am more than happy with these and would not hesitate to purchase more if the need arises.
