The Memory Kick 320GB Media Center (Black) is an advanced portable photo backup, photo viewer, video viewer, MP3 player and compete data backup solution. The portable battery-powered device allows you to transfer pictures from your digital camera's memory card at speeds of 40MB/sec. This lets you download a full 1GB memory card to the hard drive in under 3 minutes.
The device is compatible with most types of memory cards, and features a 3.5" color LCD screen for image review. The Media Center is an excellent choice for professional photographers who often find themselves filling a memory card while in the field.

- The Media Center is compatible with most standard memory card formats. These include CF Type I/II/III/IV, (UDMA Cards Supported), SD, SDHC, MMC, MMC Plus, MS, MS MagicGate, MS Select, MS PRO, MS PRO MagicGate, MS Pro-HG, MD, xD, and xD Type M/H
- 3.5" Color LCD
- The device features a 3.5" VGA color LCD display. You can use the display to review shots from the day on your own or with a client. You can even hand it off to your assistant to review while you keep shooting.

- You'll be able to download 1GB of images from a memory card in under 3 minutes, making this an ideal solution for pro photographers who need to download and shoot simultaneously.
- Portable Operation
- The Media Center is designed to be truly portable. It is powered by an internal rechargeable Li-Ion battery, making it a truly portable solution for downloading pictures from memory cards.
- Bi-Directional and Card-to-Card Copy
- The device supports bi-directional copying; not only will you be able to download images to the Media Center, you'll also be able to copy images from the Media Center to a memory card. You can also copy images directly from one card to another.
- Music and Video Playback
- In addition to photo playback, the Media Center can play music and videos. It supports MP3, WMA, AAC, Audio CD, and Uncompressed WAV in MS-RIFF audio files. Supported video formats include MOV, AVI, WMV, MP4, Xvid, and Motion JPEG.
- Multi Tasking
- Accommodates up to 4 cards/devices simultaneously; CF, USB Device, Memory Stick, and other memory cards.

I read the review by "Elston" from Washington and should have listened. Dispite the warning, I purchased this device in order to store both photos and video from my Canon 7D. Opened the box, followed the instructions to charge the battery for eight hours before attempting to turn the unit on. Turned it on and it came up to a bright but blank screen. Reset the unit and tried it again to no avail. A third attempt resulted in the unit failing even display the blank screen.Tried to contact the manufacturer and found there was no way to reach them other than by email. There is no phone number on their site for any type of contact. I returned the unit to B&H [...].While any product can be faulty out of the box, the fact that you are unable to speak to anyone at the company for any reason is more than dissapointing. For this reason alone I will not purchase from them again. I gave it a one star rating only because you must enter some rating. No Star is what my rating is.

This seemed like the best alternative to having a backup in case my laptop fails on a trip. I purchased but am disappointed. In experiments around the house it freezes up not infrequently. (Better take a paper clip along as that is the only way to reboot it when it freezes.) Not terribly practical. Yesterday we purchased an ACER netbook for $70 less than this cost me. The Netbook does a lot more and is not much heavier thatn the MemoryKick.
