The Time Capsule from Apple is an Internet router with a built-in hard drive, designed for use with OS X Leopard's Time Machine backup software. It can backup your Mac over Wi-Fi, ensuring that your data is always protected. It even features a USB port for printer and hard disk sharing.
The router allows you to share your Internet connection between several computers via the draft 802.11n wireless protocol. It also features three standard 10/100/1000Mbps RJ-45 Gigabit Ethernet ports. The router is fully backwards compatible with legacy 802.11a/b/g devices.
The Time Capsule features a firewall to protect you from malicious software that can attack your computer from the Internet, as well as wireless security to insure that your data remains private. It can serve as an Internet router for both Macs and PCs.

Comments about Apple Time Capsule (2TB):
I was concerned about integrating Time Capsule into our wireless network because I didn't need it to be a router. Instead, I just needed it for backups and to connect a USB printer to the network. The Airport utility took care of this easily, asking if I wanted to make a new network with TC or have it join an existing one. I was then asked how to connect to the existing network... I chose an Ethernet connection to the router, disabling Time Capsule's internal wireless card. Everything just worked after that; Time Machine backups were great and the USB printer just appeared on the network as available.
My two complaints are that it's overly expensive (especially if you're just looking for a 2 TB backup) and you can't connect it to a local machine any other way than wireless or Ethernet, which makes for SLOW data transfers. (It took more than 5 hours for a 160 GB backup.) It isn't a feasible backup solution if you don't allow Time Machine to connect to it regularly to backup small amounts of data at regular intervals.

Comments about Apple Time Capsule (2TB):
I use it with Time Machine and I back up three different computers wirelessly. It does it's back up in the background. You just see the external hard drive icon pop up on your desktop now and then. It's the best thing I've bought in a long time.
I am also planning to hook up my printer to the TC to be able to use it from any computer anywhere in the house wirelessly.
I had another router before which was pretty fast. The Time Capsule seems to be even faster.

Comments about Apple Time Capsule (2TB):
Easy to use. Easy to integrate. Was everything I expected and more. Currently backs up 3 Apple MACS (MacBook Pro, MacBook Air and MacBook). Also, use the rest of the space for network area storage. I think everyone needs to buy 2 terebytes. By the way it easily integrted with my other network devices: DLink router, ReadyNAS storage. I also took my old Airport Extreme and extended the wireless range since this Time Capsule is the primary Wireless router.

Comments about Apple Time Capsule (2TB):
Time Capsule (2TB) has improved our wireless connections. If your dealing with distance from the Time Capsule and a house with second story, I would also consider purchasing the Airport Express. The added storage and security is also a nice feature. Though this router cost is on the high side, I would still recommend it.

Comments about Apple Time Capsule (2TB):
This is the easiest, most reliable, least invasive backup system I have ever used! Along with the Time Machine program the Time Capsule is without a doubt THE way to go to keep your data safe. You can connect it directly to a mac with a cat5 cable, connect it to a network either wired or wirelessly, you can extend a network and you can even attach a usb printer and print wirelessly.
I have used this product for around a year now and have had no problems. After your initial setup you can just let it sit on a shelf or desk and it does all the work.
I have had other backup systems (PC) and NONE of them compared. Either they required constant attention, or they slowed down my computer, and they never worked when I need them, to bring back missing files or to repair a failed computer. I HAVE had success with the Time Capsule/Time Machine to find missing files, and I have even restored a complete system from the backup. It was as if nothing had ever happened!
The only con is the first backup can be slow if done wirelessly. So, for the initial backup and for a major restore, connect the Time Capsule directly to your mac for the fastest transfer!
