The Kata D-3N1-11 3 in 1 Sling Backpack, Small (Black) is designed to fit a digital SLR camera body with mid-range zoom lens attached, 1-2 additional lenses, flash, small netbook computer and personal gear. The pack is made from reinforced Nycore grid fabric exterior with TST rib structures protection, Yelloop interior and smooth lining and an EVA and polyethylene closed cell foam interior. It has three carrying options in one; changing from sling to "X" position to backpack and back again. The bottom main compartment of the pack holds equipment and uses the modular dividers to custom fit the bag. The large top compartment will hold personal gear or additional gear and it has internal pockets and a MP3 player pouch. There is a computer section toward the rear of the sling bag.
Two external zippered pockets allow quick access to accessories without opening the main compartments. In sling position, the bag easily swings around from back to front to achieve quick draw access to the main camera and extras lenses. In backpack position and "X" position, the equipment can be comfortably carried for long distances. The included balancing hip strap helps take the load of heavy equipment off the shoulders. The included rain cover folds neatly away into an integrated pocket and can be hung out to dry on the small buckle next to the handle, or tucked away for storage in one of the pockets.

Use this for carrying video camera, point-n-shoot and accessories, sometimes with SLR. Also for small netbook (11 inches). Great build, design, and looks. Strong dividers, great for SLR and lenses. Great for day trips.
Equipment is well protected and bag feels extremely well built.
Small for air travel if you want to carry other things in there as well. Limited space, hard to fit the netbook if inside its sleeve.
If you need more space or travel often, choose medium or large sizes.

I purchased this product thinking it would fit my camera nicely, however it barely fit with the 28-200 lens attached, and I had to squeeze the other lenses in. If I had another telephoto it would not have fit. I'm not sure who keeps a laptop with a 9" screen but that's all it will fit. The bag also felt a little weird on my back. I ended up returning it.

I used it for motorsports photography.
It provided me enough space to accomodate my phot kit.
It's very comfortable to carry as a regular backpack, sling or "X".
I will consider buying a bigger one if I upgrade my equipment.

I used this for a wedding once and although I did not carry it around all day, I could have. Small, holds my camera body with 16-35mm lens attached, an extra lens (85mm) and could have easily held an additional small lens. I however used the extra space for my battery charger. I could not fit my flash in it though...or perhaps I just did not mess with it enough.
Worked great for what I needed. Has a lot of little features. (pockets, place of iPad, little rain poncho for the bag)
I wore it with one strap diagonal across my chest. Nice and compact. I love it so far.

I bought this to carry my Nikon D7000 body with at 50mm attached most of the time, and with a 55-300mm off to the side; along with a speedlight and filters. I can't envision fitting in much more than that. This little bag is just right for that. I had to get a little creative with the divider so it could all fit in the main compartment but once I figured it out it was smooth sailing. The bag may be used ambidextrously, which is cool. I love how you can use it as a backpack or a sling on either shoulder. So many possibilities! The top compartment is useful for miscellaneous items, such as your snackbars. The little 'netbook' slot in the back is probably only useful for a small netbook or tablet. I don't have an iPad so I can't say whether one of those would fit. It's a sturdy and rigid bag. I love it so far. Just make sure you set up the shoulder straps correctly so you don't tweak your lower back like I did.

Lots of storage and easy to carry in a variety of ways. This case fits my Sony a33 body with a lens and 2 extra lens plus batteries ,cords 2 small table top tripods and even my small video camera not to mention a few misc gagets. There is lots of room and lots of ways to configure the case. I bought this case instead of the D3N01-10 which does not have the extra pocket for a small tablet for a future IPad if you don't plan on carrying a tablet in the bag get the D-3N1-10 as its a bit smaller. All in all great bag I like it because I can use it as a sling for quick access and short walks or a back pack for longer walks or when I go skiing and want more support. The only thing I might change is the back flap is not as flexible as I would like to access the compartment where everything is stored. There are 2 plastic snaps where the flap bends and makes it bit harder to open and will not just stay open to look at what you want or move things around. Don't get me wrong it still works well but they should move the clips or make a snap to hold flap open .
Note- I say its hard to access equipment and also easy to access equipment. What I mean is its easy to access equipment in sling mode or top and side compartments but difficult when trying to open full back flap as I say above.

Very innovative. Works just like it is described. The camera is very easily accessible. It fits my T2I with a 18-55mm attached , 75-300mm, and 30mm very well. It also fits my battery charger, cleaning kit, filter kit, and a few other things. If you plan to fit anything else, get the 3n1-22 Medium. The 3n1-11 is perfect for me. I have another larger bag for that fits all my equipment and glass but it's not very practical for day trips to the beach or to the park. The top compartment is perfect for a point and shoot and some accessories. The bag is very well built and thought out. The fabric feel is of great quality. The stitching is solid. I'm 5'7" and may recommend that a taller person get the 3n1-22. It will fit them better and feel more comfortable. Over all this is a great product. The only thing is, make sure you buy the rite size. I'm happy with mine but I can see how this bag may be just a tad bit small for some. A few extra square inches can fit a larger lens or even a extra lens altogether.

I just got this bag. I spent 3 days comparing it to the thinktank bags and lowepro sling bags. I took every measurement of my equipment, except the height of my camera with my battery grip on. My Canon 40D with a battery grip is 6.18"H. This bag is 5.9" deep internally. I'm returning it and getting the -22. Don't make the same mistake I did.
Other than that, I observed that it's a little awkward when it sits on your back because it is so narrow. The belt strap must be employed if you don't have enough equipment to weight it down.

Use it for light trips to Disney and going overseas
Great bag, fits bare ipad in the "laptop slot" and fits ipad with cover the the top compartment with the zipper divider unzipped.
Fits Canon t2i great and probably 2-4 lenses, I only have 2 but a TON more space available.
Bigger than it looks, so if you're on the fence between this and the 3n1-22 definitely go with this bag.

have a canon rebel T2i, and extra lens, and battery, and flash.
I wanted something that would hold this protectively.
found this KATA bag, looked like it had enough compartments.
received it, and it took some time to figure it out, how to put it on, for sling mechanism, etc, and to arrange the camera within the pack (has removable/arrangable velcro padded dividers), but once I figured it out, it works GREAT. Able to use as a sling, then bring bag around to front, easily open the side flap, pull out the camera, shoot some shots, all without removing the pack from my shoulder.
see their web site for video's on its use. very informative.

It's not hard to gush excessively about this bag so I'll try to limit myself.
My goal with this bag was to downsize my photo and computing gear to a minimum: one SLR and lens, a computer, and a minimum related accessories. I wanted versatility in carrying it but a backpack configuration was required. So too was the ability to sling it around under my arm to gain quick access to my camera. Also, my preference for a computer has become an iPad so it had to fit as well. This bag satisfies all requirements beautifully and it's really well-built too.

Bought this product to carry an dslr a point'n'shoot and a camcorder. The bag is excellently built, sturdy, with many pockets and attention to detail. This is no hold-em-all, as it is of small size. The items are all very easily accessible. Using the laptop pocket, but the netbook (Asus 1005) will not fit with its case, it has to go in without it. Also, little difficult to set up the dividers. Overall love the bag, a great purchase.
