Comments about Aluratek Libre eBook Reader PRO (Black):
Overall a decent ebook reader. While it's the first I've owned, I do have friends with the Sony reader and between the two, I like this one better. I prefer the button arrangement on this one and it does have a, albeit very limited, text search feature. The battery life is very good and I can usually read a complete 450+ page book on a single charge, and I'm a slow reader that takes 30-45 minutes to read a chapter. The memory card slot is VERY useful and allows you to keep several unique book libraries/collections and just switch them out easily (my friend's Sony doesn't have that). The mp3 player is very limited, however. It might be OK if you want to listen to music in the background while reading, but if you wanted to say listen to an audio book while following along in the text, forget it. The music navigation controls are too limited while reading. The screen is very readable and comparable to a real book and requires about the same lighting since there is no backlight. Occasionally, though, it will get a glare and have to be repositioned. It does NOT have the annoying flash that the Sony has. Don't bother using it for reference books, though, ebook readers only work good for books you read from start to finish. Overall, I'm pleased.

I bought one of these and made the mistake of showing it to my wife who promptly "adopted" it,
then I bought a second one for ME.
We both feel that it is large enough to display a good sized block of text without being too bulky for easy carry and use.
The text is dark and sharp, and the background is easy on the eyes.
I particularly appreciate the fact that it handles multiple formats, and the SD card can be read and written in a computer with a card slot without any need to hook up the USB cable.
My wife appreciates being able to instantly rotate the page to landscape mode and back to portrait mode, which makes it easier to hold when reading for long periods of time.

I use this product for leisurly reading. Ilike it because it is small and fits in my purse. The only complaint that I have is that it is kind of dark and could use a backlight besides that the ebook is great!

I purchased the Libre online from B&H Photo and Video in New York. I've purchased many, many items from them, and have always found them to be the least expensive [...] online retailer EVER!Using the Libre I have converted numerous e-books into .pdf format and have had no problem whatsoever in reading any of them. Super intuitive and easy to understand interface allows even the 'Novice' computer user a "ready-to-use" ability to turn on the Libre and begin reading immediately out of the box.The Libre does everything I need it to do. The computer interface is easy to understand. I have yet to find anything that is not as good as (or better than) the more expensive models of other readers.

This is a VERY nice unit, at a VERY reasonable cost. It works well, is easy to use, and is very easy on the eyes (nevermind the controversy between E-Ink and E-Paper, or whatever). The only complaint I have is that I had expected the unit to have a backlight. This was probably because I have previously used a PDA (Ipaq) to read. So I have bought an LED headlamp (none of the 'booklights' would fit on the unit). The unit is lighter that a paperback, and the font is easy to read, with several size options. I miss my PDA, though, because it would be nice to play a game now and then ... perhaps a suggestion for the next version?

Pros: I love the compact size, the flexibility of different formats, no problems with battery life (and I read a lot!), LCD screen is clear and quick to load.
I got my Libre Ebook Reader Pro for Christmas and was thrilled that it came pre-loaded with 100 classics on a 2gig card. I read for long stretches at a time and my eyes don't get tired at all. Haven't tried the MP3 player option in it yet. I also really like that there are three different ways to turn the page, this allows me to hold it with only one hand most times. The size and shape of it are great for in my purse or coat pocket.
There's really nothing that I dislike about the Libre Ebook Reader Pro itself. It does what it claims, plain and simple. I think I would make the case a harder case.

This is a great ebook reader, I carry it with me everywhere, small enough to fit in my coat pocket. It is not a full 5 stars because it is advertised also as an MP3 player, and in that role it is pretty dismal, as the sound randomly cuts in the stereo channels, as if the device did not have enough CPU to carry the load. I did not buy this device for the music, but for reading, so it does not bother me much, I'll keep my iPod... ;)
