Comments about LaCie 500GB Petit Hard Disk:
I was disappointed that the USB cable was not in fact embedded as it was stated in the "What's In The Box" blurb, however that doesn't take away from its use. It looks sleek and is fairly small. I bought the LaCie Cozy case with it and it's still rather compact. The installation was a breeze and it comes with their optional backup program called Backup Genie. Definitely a LaCie product.

Comments about LaCie 500GB Petit Hard Disk:
When I got this drive, Nov 2009, a 320GB LaCie had just failed me.
This here drive prompted the PC to format which is usually no problem. But it did cause me some headaches as the formatting got messed up and it took me a few days to get this to be correctly formatted for the Linux, Mac and PC. This had not been an issue with previous drives, which have worked straight out of the box. As they should.
I use an external USB drive a lot, keeping all my work in a single place. Back up of a lot of files filling this size drive is slow, in my case usually taking from dinner time until breakfast. Its the small drive, slow rpm and the usb.
But I bought this because it is compact, no transformer needed like in the old days. I do not like this particular design with the weird white bulge thing. An engineering piece should be straight dumb simple.
But the price seemed good.
Anyway, this is the third LaCie USB hard drive to fail me. Although I am skeptical with other brands fairing better, but I will not buy LaCie again.
LaCie, please put your engineering into the drive quality, not gimmicky looks.

I bought this drive to store my video. Well I must say I am glad with my purchasing of it. It's nice and small so it fits in my laptop case perfectly. But don't let the size kill you, the 500 GB is awesome for it's [$] price.

Comments about LaCie 500GB Petit Hard Disk:
I use this on a mac and although I would have preferred Firewire I'm not too bothered, this is really fast it has USB Boost and that obviously makes a difference because this thing hauls!
It's stylish and whilst it probably isn't as lovely as the Lacie Starck drives it's great value for money, made of Aluminium and itdoesn't get too hot.
