The GoPro HD Helmet HERO Camcorder gives you everything you need to capture HD footage from your helmet, vehicle, or other equipment. With 3 helmet mounts, 2 gear or vehicle mounts and even a head strap for wearing the camcorder like a headlamp you can record all your adventures in high res while your hands remain free to perform the task at hand. You can even take the camcorder underwater up to 180 ft thanks to the waterproof housing.
Not only does the HD Helmet HERO capture 1080, 960, or 720p video though, it also takes 5MP digital stills. The camera can shoot photos automatically every 2, 5, 10, 30, or 60 seconds until the battery dies or the SD card fills. You can also set it to take a single shot, triple shot, or use the self-timer to get yourself in the photo. In addition to all that, the HD Helmet HERO is compatible with all of GoPro HERO's optional mounting accessories, meaning the possibilities for shooting are endless.

For the size of this camera you can't beat the visual and audio quality. I've taken it down to 80 feet under water b/c my main use for it is to record my free dives and it didn't leak a drop of water. But if you do take it under water I would suggest throwing one of those salt packet things you find in beef jerky to grab any condensation you might encounter. Still pics come out really cool too.

Ive been using the product skiing and for making time lapse films with it mounted on my car. So far the pictures are great and the movie quality is as good as you can expect. However, the only complaint is that the white balance turns very yellow in lower light. It seems that the GoPro Hero 2 has remedied this problem, and is much more sharp. I will be returning this product and upgrading to the 2.

I bought this camera to use for scuba diving and what convinced me wasits geat price and its amazing 180' waterproof case. I tried the camera first outside the water and it films great on 720p above water, sometimes takes a bit of time to focus and won't capture when you move too fast but it was great quality video. Once I took the camera underwater I encountered several problems, the first being that it has trouble focusing underwater and creates a great amount blurr at a certain distance, the second problem I encountered on a different dive was after I surfaced I noticed the case was fogged inside just around the lens area which affected the video. Another problema I had when filming underwater was when I tried out the 1080 resolution, it cuts off a great amount of the filmable area, and it creates a less fluent video and you can sometimes even see the frames. One thing I would've liked the camera to include is a way to see what you are filming in order to correct any positioning problems before you actually film and you view on a computer. It also needs a more detailed manual.
Overall I found this product to be great for its price and it does an amazing job of filming on dry land. Its case is completely water proof and has a tight seal , its size is ideal and it comes with several different adapters which make filming easier based on where you want to hold the camera.

We have absolutely loved this little camera. My husband and I are avid outdoors people and we love to mountain bike, rock climb, hike, etc. We have used this little guy for so many activities already and we have only had it for about a week. We even decided to use it when we went on a trip instead of taking our big camera for still shots and mini videos. The image and video quality are amazing. The only negatives about it is there is no view finder and only one button, so until you figure out all of the different button commands, its a little tricky to use. We will definitely be looking into the LCD screen attachment for this and then we will use it all the time! Great helmet cam, and even small portable.

I got this for my sons (10&11) to shoot video while skiing, skateboarding, surfing, etc. I was very impressed by the simplicity and the high resolution, high quality video. There were plenty of mounts included with the camera so both sons could put mounts on their helmets and there are lots more mounting options available making it a very versatile device.
I was a little surprised that there was NO memory at all in the camera. I was lucky to have a 2GB SD card around, or we wouldn't have been able to test it at all on Christmas morning.
It is a quality device that is very well designed for its purpose. I think it's going to be a lot of fun.

I'm using the HD Helmet HERO to record sled dog races from the drivers perspective. With the head strap, its a great handsfree way to record that memorable action event.
I love the small size and the quality of the recordings.
The menu system is a little awkward in that you have to scroll thru it entirely in order to go back, but its not a big issue after you spend some time to familarize yourself.

Awesome Camera however the menus take some getting use to due to the lack of a large LCD. Picture Quality is awesome and the mounts are rock solid, however I found additional mounts to be a bit pricy. Overall it's a great buy for the price. I use it for flying, waterskiing and mountain biking. I hope to use it underwater in the carribean as well!

I use this camera for POV on firefighters helmets during training excercises. They are subjected to heat, water, muck, and bashing about. Throughout all of this, they keep on plunking away. You can't ask any more from these cameras.
The only con is that this kit makes the camera stick way out to the side or the top. This can cause an imbalance or is easily struck and can re-position the unit.

Only gets 4 stars for the bad audio. But this thing rocks. We put it into practice shooting a whitewater rafting excursion, and it worked amazingly well. The highlights of the sky were well balanced with the darker mountains and water. The exposure is remarkably accurate. It was attached to one of the expedition members (not a video crew person) and the thing ran for over 90 minutes with no issue. We shot at 1280x720 60P, and the motion was smooth and the image stabilization worked great. Only gripe (besides the audio) is on the post production side. I wish this footage would import into edit systems easier. We're on Avid's and have also tried it in Final Cut Pro. Not so easy to get the MP4 footage in there. The avid can import footage via AMA very easily, but for some reason this codec isn't playing nice there. Anyway, nice camera. Get the LCD back.

Got this as a b-roll/secondary camera for shoots that would be in water or if I needed a smaller camera. LOVE IT! Just took it on family vacation. The audio is muffled inside the waterproof case. But the flexibility and fun are amazing!

Little gadget with big performance. The audio was better than I expected. The skeleton cage does have better wind noise that the completely sealed case - just as the manual said. Oh, and save the packaging - the little stand it is on when you get it makes a fine little stand that we use all the time!
