The GoPro HD Motorsports HERO Camcorder records 1080p high definition video from your helmet, your vehicle, or anywhere else you mount it. The camera comes with 2 helmet mounts, 3 vehicle mounts, and a suction cup mount. Other optional mounts can be obtained for even more ways to record. The waterproof (up to 180 ft, 60m) polycarbonate housing also protects the camera from crashes and scratches.
Aside from shooting HD video, the HERO also captures 5MP digital stills. You can record at 2, 5, 10, 30, and 60 second intervals until the battery dies or the SD card fills up. The camera can also take single shots, triple shots, or be used with the self-timer. In addition, the built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery lasts for up 2.5 hours on a single charge and features an integrated heating system for staying warm during cold weather activities.

I've had the GoPro HD for several weeks now and I wanted to share my experience with this camcorder.
Before purchasing this camcorder, I knew that this would be mainly for sports and that it doesn't come with a screen to preview or to review video. I thought I should be able to live without having a screen, but everytime I use it, I really wish it had a screen. It looks like aftermarket screens are available, so I'll most likely purchase one later so that I can better compose each video.
As for the video quality, I was so surprised to see how good it was. In good lighting, the videos from the GoPro look comparable to my Canon T2i! I was shocked! However, it's in poor lighting that this camera falls short. I would actually say that in poor lighting, it's almost unusable. Before purchasing the camcorder, I saw a sample video on youtube, where a skier was night skiing, but honestly, I really don't know how he was able captured that. Maybe there is a ISO setting that I don't know of?
So, I would deduct a star for it's low quality in low lightings. Sound is also pretty bad, even with the open back, but I knew that before purchasing this camcorder.
Other than that, I really enjoy using this camcorder. I liked it so much that I purchased a second one, hoping to get different angles. Also, I can't wait to get the 3D case when it comes out next year!

I purchased my GoPro excitedly waiting to use it on some motorcycle track days so I could review the footage and critique my body positioning, lean angles, etc. to learn to become a better rider. At the end of the day of my -first- trackday with this camera the thumbscrew loosened somewhere out on the track and the camera came off. I later recovered the camera and the only part which broke was the memory card slot it seems.. during the crash the card was jarred out and now will not load SD cards properly anymore, rendering it useless. I was absolutely sure to check and retighten the screw between every session as I had my doubts as to whether it could stay tight and my concerns were proven. I would absolutely RECOMMEND AGAINST PURCHASING this camera as the mounting system is sub-par and does not include any kind of safety wire/tethering incase it comes off like in my situation. I contacted GoPro support, meticulously detailing with pictures how I mounted the camera, where it was located, etc. and was told that they would not offer me any kind of repairs or replacement under warranty even though I followed the instructions exactly as printed.

For [$]the features are obviously impressive. Further more with its compact size and pretty indestructible case it's a great camera to get shots where you just wouldn't be able to use anything else. That being said I wouldn't use it for anything else. With fixed focal length and fixed aperture you have no adjustment. The dynamic range is horrible, anything bright and it will be horribly blown out. I think this is partly due to a picture style which boosts contrast and saturation hugely. The big con for me though is that Gopro is clearly aiming for a very consumer market and is not at all interested in people who work with video at all seriously. We had a defective Gopro last year and when dealing with customer service they repeatedly asked me questions like, do I have the battery in or is my USB working properly.In summary I think the Gopro is a cool camera that I will continue to use yet I find it annoying that it could be so much better if Gopro wanted it to be.

I wanted a camera that did HD and this ffits the bill. WOW am I amazed at how versatile this device is.
I have used it underwater, in streams, in lakes, on bikes etc with amazing results.
the low light capacity is, well to be desired at times.
the sound quality is impressive even iside the watertight case.
photographs are only 5 megapixels, I only got this for the video...

All most everything on this Camera is awesome... except the outer case's lens.
If it even touches concrete it gets a lot of scratches or chips. After that any picture/video taken outdoors is ruined. Inside its still OK. If you get this, make sure to buy a lot of lens replacements.

I use the camera in places where you can't fit other hd quality cameras. This is a great action sport camera for just about anything you can imagine. The Motosports kit in my opinion is the most versatile and best bang for the buck. The included suction cup mount is bullet proof and holds the HD Hero rock solid!!!

This camera has been in cockpits, under chassis, on motorcycles, in vehicles, on dirt racing tracks, "fly on the wall" for time-lapses and the list goes on and on!
Be sure to keep your MANUAL for a breakdown of the functions/names though. I would like to see some sort of audio control down the road and a viewing screen you can put INSIDE a casing. Be careful filming in 60P though, FCP DOESN'T like that format yet. Minor flaws, I'm just picky.
great product, I'll probably but 2-3 more next summer for more amazing gopro racing footage!

I love this camera!
I really enjoy sticking it everywhere on my car and playing with all the possible angles that I can find. The Motorsport mount holds extremely well and remains very stable on the car body. The housing feels very good and tough! The camera is light in weight, so helmets and the like are looking very good too!
Get WITH the LCD backpac screen! The options are hard to navigate on the little 4-digit read out. The abbreviations get somewhat out of hand...
This is a camera to abuse and destroy for that killer video shot, consider that when buying! It's NOT a highly customizable beast, settings wise!

I use this for POV shots for use in my v-blog for my family. The camera is lightweight, gives a great wide-angle image and the waterproof case is superb - (although I wouldn't go diving with it). I wish the mounting apparatus provided more angles. It is a bit limited in the way it is mounted. I would like it if I could mount it to a wall and surfaces that weren't necessarily at 90 degree angles. Although it does allow for quite a few angles, I wish there would be even more. Am I asking for too much?

I am so proud to be the first owner of GO PRO among my filmmaker friends in India. Its simply amazing. I tried it underwater and the results are FABULOUS. Am soon going to shoot an ad film with it. The vodeo's are good but the sound leave a lot to be desired, I bet it is because it is fully sealed. I wish the camera also had an attachment for use on a traditional camera stand, that would probably make it more handy. other than that, it is a a good action camera.
