The GoPro Surf HERO Camcorder is specifically designed for shooting HD video while you surf. Capture 1080, 960, and 720p video at 30 or 60 frames per second (60fps in 720p) as well as 5MP photos. The HD Surf HERO can be mounted to your board with adhesive base mounts or the FCS fin plug mount, and of course, using the housing that's waterproof up to 180 ft (60m). Optional accessories can be used with the Surf HERO as well for shooting in a variety of other settings.
In addition to giving you shooting capabilities almost anywhere the HD Surf HERO has a battery that lasts up to 2.5 hours. You can recharge the battery up to 80% in as little as 1 hour when plugged into a USB compatible wall or car charger or 2 hours when plugged into your computer's USB port. The battery also features a built-in heating system for keeping it warm even in colder weather.

This camera is perfect, take diving, take it 4-wheeling, strap it to your surf board, stick it to your car, dunk it in your pitcher of beer, do anything and everything with it. This sucker can take it all. Love the amount of awesome features you can pump out of this, timelapses on the hood of the car while on vacation, why not? Lower it into a mysterious hole with a flashlight duct taped to it, sure. Whatever you do, never leave home on a trip without it, and get some of the grab bag goodies too. The gorilla pod is the perfect compliment to this guy, since you can then mount him pretty much anywhere. One of the most worth while purchases of my life.

I want to send an update to a review that I originally posted. Since that somewhat positive review, I have had nothing be bad things with these cameras. There is a problem with the firmware on many of the GoPro HD Hero cameras which essentially "bricks" your camera once it gets to 9999 images. I have 2 cameras that experienced this, [...]. The really sad part is that they have posted on their website that there is a firmware update "Coming Soon" that will hopefully fix this issue. But, the website has said that since last November. Since then, hey have posted several dates that the firmware was suppose to come out, and they've missed each date, going back to the generic "Coming soon" Do not buy this camera until the firmware issues have been fixed. Their ability to develop fixes for their flagship product have been pityfull, and they should be ashamed of themselves for releasing a product that has proven defects.

Used professionally in the Antarctic Southern ocean as one of our teams main fixed cameras on a top rating adventure documentary TV series. Became more practical than much larger and considerably more expensive underwater rigs. Because of its wide angle lens it could handle a lot of jarring motion plus would still operate fine in below freezing water temperatures. Main weakness is the plastic hinge at the base of the casing. With enough impact these would break and cameras would be lost so we had to build metal mounts for holding the waterproof casing minus the plastic hinge. These modified casings were great for the exposed areas on the front of small boats.

Image quality is great, it is pretty simple to use and it works better than I really thought something like this could. Even with all the hype, it lived up to it and then some. I have to say though, I actually laughed out loud when I saw the thing in person for the first time. So much smaller than I was picturing. I'd highly recommend it. Obviously this camera has a specific and intended use and for that it is perfect. As far as cons go, there aren't any, unless you are trying to do something with it that it wasn't designed to do.

Great little camera for picking up unique b-roll and time lapse shots. I do mostly corporate work and event coverage, and even then you can pretty much always find a way to make this camera work to get extra, useful shots. Good variety of settings and the audio works fine for syncing purposes later.

This little piece will blow your mind! Superb hd videos with wide angle lenses. Not so good at low light, but in sunny and clear days this camera rocks! If you love extreme and wild sports, you have to buy one to film your experiences! It's amazing.
The camera operation is not intuitive, you have to use the manual to know how to obtain the best of the camera. The LCD display (sold separately) is a must-buy if you wanna check how the videos are going.
In general, this camera does a very good job for its size and price.

All in all a fantastic little camerabut as with everything is has its ups and downs. Initially takes a little time to get used to changing the settings. Also not good quality for underwater video due to dome lens. (I believe a Hero flat port is coming soon and there is another company that already makes one, big difference) Above water though, the quality is amazing, both video and photos. The fish eye lens is super wide and the extremly compact size makes it easy to carry around and mount almost wherever you want. The case is very durable and the o-ring seals perfectly. To summerise, I love it!!

I have only had this camera for a couple of days but I love it. for my money and the features this carea offers it can't get any better.
