The AESDA from Whirlwind is a portable device that decodes digital audio in AES/EBU and S/PDIF into analog audio signals. It has one female XLR input (for stereo AES) and one BNC connector. There are two balanced male XLR outputs and a mini-plug headphone output. The AESDA can be powered with 4 AA batteries, with the included power supply, or adapted to an external portable power source. It provides excellent quality audio conversion in a compact and ultra-portable package.

There are 10 LEDs on the face of the AESDA that provide diagnostic analysis of the incoming digital signals, as well as its current operational status. The warning lights will assist you in troubleshooting any faults and errors that may occur. With the flip of a switch, the same lights that alert you of errors are used to inform you of the current status, such as the sample rate, type of data, etc.

Two 11-segment LED meter arrays are used to inform you of the digital input and analog output signal levels. The AESDA is capable of decoding both professional and consumer versions of AES-3. You can adjust the two output levels independently with dedicated knobs, and use a third knob to adjust the volume level of the 3.5mm headphone output.
