The podDI from Whirlwind is a single-output summing direct box that can be used to connect CD and MP3 players, computer sound card outputs, DJ mixers, etc. to professional equipment with balanced inputs such as a mixing console. The unit can also be used as a high-quality, single input passive DI box.
The personal audio interface accepts a stereo input and sums them into a single mono output. A variable attenuator on each input provides level matching between left and right inputs, allowing the podDI to also function as a passive mixer in split track audio applications. So for instance, a voice track and a music track can be balanced to the summed mono output.

Comments about Whirlwind podDI - Personal Audio Interface:
We used it for apple macbooks in a hotel conference room to use over the house speakers.
All that was available were XLR mic inputs every 30' or so. This worked like a charm. All the videos had great sound quality, and we didn't have to bring in a mixer or additional speakers.
Great for traveling with a small amount of gear for these type of corporate gigs.

At my church, we needed a simple, easy way for anyone, including renters, to plug in an iPod or other mp3 player. This was very easy to connect and sounds good with my iPod. We haven't gotten much use of it yet, but it's so simple I don't foresee any problems.
I like that it was designed specifically to be used with headphone outputs from mp3 players and similar devices. I had tried a different DI box, and I had to crank the volume on the mixer channel. This one has a good volume level with the mixer volume in a reasonable range.

Perfect solution for getting RCA or stereo mini into a low impedance XLR long run. We're running it across 100' of XLR and it works quite well.

Comments about Whirlwind podDI - Personal Audio Interface:
I originally bought the ART AVDirect to use with my remote controlled MP3 player in my variety shows. It works great, but it's a strange size and has all kinds of connections I just didn't need and that tended to confuse "sound men" who, let's just say, were not as experienced as you'd like. This DI is more expensive, but I love the much smaller size and the simplicity of the design. There's not much to get wrong on this one. And the summing to mono is great. Anybody want to buy an ART AVDirect?
