Lite-On iHAS424 Internal 24x DVD Writer
The iHAS424 Internal 24x DVD Writer from Lite-On is an internal DVD burner for use with Windows computers. Installing in a 5.25" drive bay, the burner features a SATA interface and SuperMulti DVD burning capability. It features LightScribe technology, which allows it to print labels on specially-coated discs using a laser. It can write all types of DVD and CD media, including rewritable discs, dual-layer discs, and DVD-RAM discs.

- ABS system reduces vibration and noise during recording and reading
- Support Fixed Packet, Variable Packet, TAO, SAO, DAO, Random Access Write, Incremental, sequential recording, restricted overwrite, Layer Jump recording, Raw Mode Burning, and Over-Burn
- Reads DVD single/dual layer (PTP/OTP), DVD-R (3.9GB/4.7GB), DVD-R multi-borders, DVD-RAM, DVD+R, DVD+R multi-sessions, DVD-RW, and DVD+RW
- Reads CD-DA, CD-ROM, CD-ROM/XA, Photo-CD, Multi-session, Karaoke-CD, Video-CD, CD-I FMV, CD Extra, CD Plus, CD-R, and CD-RW

This DVD burner is all that it says it is. From ease of use to the lightscribe feature. The installation was a snap as was the auto integration. This product also comes with the nero 9 suite and it hosts a pretty good bundle of software. Although the lightscribe label maker is a bit tough to navigate, the overall ease of use and the software is worthy of the rating. Truth is I would have given this product a 4 star rating just for the price. If you are in need of a new burner this is the one for you.

I bought this product with the intent of burning church sermon videos. The specs said it could go up to 24x, but it goes up 10x to 12x. I am still trying to figure out why. It is a bit noisy during boot up but so far I like it. Considering the price it is a good deal. I have used Lite On products and they are pretty tough and reliable.

My lightscribe burner recently died a horrible death - in all the years I've owned computers I've never had a burner die. I primarily used it to burn lightscribe demo DVDs for my business.
I don't turn out a huge volume, but I need something reliable, and simple to install. The drive showed up quickly, and the hardest part was opening my computer case and getting the old unit out. With that done, four bolts and two connectors later, I powered up my machine, it found the drivers, and I was back in business. There's nothing glamorous here, but when it comes to DVD burners, I'll take functional over pretty any day.

Plug-and-play, does everything I've asked it to do. I've done some LightScribe labeling, and while it's not quite what I'd hoped (due to the low contrast--a comment on the media, not the CD/DVD drive), it's still very good on the highest-quality settings. Burning photo CDs has been very fast; no experience yet with burning DVDs, but it's been fine reading DVDs and doing a test LightScribe printing to DVD.
