So Powerful...Aced on the design...!

By AngelMarioPHOTO

from Miami, FL.

I hope this review help in case you may have some questions. Let's beginning saying my IMAC is the 2.8 cuad core with the ATI 512MB Video card. I ordered this one not only because it is powerful, also for a future sell value whenever computer update might be necessary. Well now I can say APPLE did it again with this new IMAC overhaul. 27" screen looks absolutely crisp and with 8GB ram and powerful video card images look stunning. These new IMACs look pretty much like our MacBookPRO unibody on mega steroids since IMAC body is also anodized aluminum. All the new improvements make the computer run better, faster CPU, faster HD speed and interface and don't forget the new RAM acceptance, 16 GB is a lot especially for multi-tasking combined with cuad core technology, definitively a force to reckon with. Don't forget the mouse, especially if you are a heavy MacBookPRO user, the gesture thing works like a charm and finally APPLE got rid of the annoying mouse with center ball which after 3 months wouldn't work anymore, even if you had to clean it.
Ok...let's go with the sad part from this story....Since the IMACs are made of aluminum hence the heat on the top edge of the screen. Even with the 3 fans working well, that area may go REALLY REALLY HOT, of course, aluminum is working as a great heat conductor helping to dissipate inside heat, also you have there the exhaust. If you run a high 64-Bit demanding app you will hear the fans working at its best, it doesn't bother me but I didn't hear a hiss on my previous IMAC(2007 white one, 24"/ 2.33mhz, 3GB ), I think new resources are more demanding. The glossy screen, even as a graphic designer I am doesn't bother me, what I do think It might be a major adjustment shall be the new keyboard if you get used to work with the long one, unfortunately the cable on the new one is absolutely short because is designed to be used really close to the screen, not on a regular drawer computer type desk. Oh...Let me tell you something funny, yes the screen is 27 inches but the IMAC doesn't look as huge as Apple people or you can imagine if you had 24 IMAC(like me), they just add 3 more inches wide NOT DIAGONALLY, therefore the 3 additional inches don't make to look the IMAC as big as you wish, good marketing though(when APPLE hasn't be strong in that field...?)
Finally as you can see, there are way more more PROS than CONS, at the end you will realize that you payed for a well built machine and not for a major load of plastic on those other brands computers."
