The Olympus E-P2 is cloaked in classic black, this hybrid photo and HD movie camera boldly brings fun and simplicity back to SLR quality. It is part of the Micro Four Thirds (4/3) camera system that enables pro-quality still and video imaging abilities in a small, unassuming package. Along with a line of compact M.Zuiko digital lenses, the system is compatible with all existing 4/3-format fixed-prime and zoom lenses from 7mm through 800mm (114° to 1.5° AOV).
The camera is essentially a 4/3-format DSLR minus the prism and mirror housing (hence the smaller body size), images can be composed and edited using the E-P2's 3" HyperCrystal LCD, which features anti-reflective coatings on its surface to enable Live viewing of 100% of the image area under the brightest of lighting conditions. When shooting in manual focus, a 5x magnification of the center of the frame pops up as a focusing aid each time you adjust the focusing ring. (This magnification can be can be manually increased up to 10x.)
The E-P2 features a port for the included VF-2 electronic viewfinder or the optional EMA-1 external microphone. The VF-2 live-finder, is a detachable electronic viewfinder that easily slides onto the camera's accessory port and hot shoe, providing 1.15x magnification, a 100% field of view with amazing resolution, brightness and contrast. The viewfinder refreshes quickly to minimize image ghosting on fast-moving subjects. The VF-2 rotates up to 90° to enable photographers to look down into it, which is useful when shooting subjects from challenging angles. The built-in diopter adjustment and high magnification offer easy viewing with and without glasses.
Clad in ergonomically-designed stainless-steel body panels, the Olympus E-P2 takes many design queues from the Olympus Pen F, a popular half-frame SLR that made its initial debut in 1959. But unlike the original Pen F, the E-P2 has the ability to produce vividly-detailed still photographs and HD video with stereo sound, both of which can be enhanced post-capture using the E-P2's advanced in-camera retouching and audio dubbing tools.
The E-P2 includes a picture mode called iEnhance, which analyzes colors and brightness. The new mode mimics what the naked eye sees. For example, a beautiful sunset looks awesome in person and generally seems to fade when captured in an image. With iEnhance, the warm yellow and orange colors are heightened to be brilliant and closer to the actual scene. The result is exceptionally clear imaging with a dramatically lifelike color. iEnhance can be used in any shooting mode - from program to manual - and automatically engages when in iAuto. This along with the 8 art filters allows you to take perfect, creative images.
Other features found on the Olympus E-P2 include i-Auto mode, dust reduction technology, in-camera image stabilization, which enables low-light hand-held shooting with all 4/3-system lenses, advanced shooting modes, and creative post-capture editing tools.
This kit includes a compact 14-42mm M.Zuiko Digital zoom lens, which with an angle-of-view of 74-28.5°, is an equivalent to a 28-85mm lens on a full-frame DSLR.

I have often been looking for a small(er) camera that can give me near-DSLR Image Quality but that is much smaller and portable.
The E-P1 was a great contender but there was no way I could completely be without a Viewfinder. The EVF that comes with the E-P2 is simply amazing. The clarity and colors are as good or better than that from the Panasonic G1 or GH1 with a beautiful bright crisp display.
The Image Stabilization is also very nice, allowing me to shoot at shutter speeds as low as 1/5th of a second on a 20mm lens and get sharp shots.
The only thing I was unhappy with is that you cannot yet buy the body separately and must buy it in a kit with the lens and EVF.
Battery life can vary from as low as 200 shots to as high as 350 depending on the lens I'm using and other conditions, I would definitely recommend having a spare battery.

Its very cute, light, seems nicely made, I loved the color and tonal rendition, but the focus was too slow, especially in available light situations. REALLY SLOW to focus. For me this was a deal killer. I also decided 4:3 wasn't for me. Also I found the menu structure to be awkward, and the way it works I kept accidentally changing ISO and other settings. Manual mode was not user-friendly.

Comments about Olympus E-P2 Pen Digital Camera w/ 14-42mm Zuiko Lens & Electronic Viewfinder (Black):
Having a camera which allows me to take great high quality pictures and is light wheighted is fantastic. The small body is solid and well constructed and it feels great in your hand. Taking pictures with it is a joy.
The lens is very versatile, and the fact that it's retractable is a great plus. For a kit lens it's great.
I feel the lack of a built-in flash for quick and simple portraits at night, but only for the register. If you want to take serious pictures in those situations you would need an external flash anyway.
The EVF works very well and I end up using it more than I'd expect to do. It's a shame that it's so ugly, it's a great piece of accessory.

-Takes good low light pictures.
-A flash would be useful.
-Takes clean whites and easy to use right out of the box.
-I also purchased an adapter for my old exacta lenses. I still need to try more, but they seem to work without any problems.
-I Wish the lens was a macro lens.

I am a photojournalist and I travel all over the world. I have been lugging big DSLR for years. I have just fallen in love with my E-P2. It is small and when I take pictures in public people are not concerned to what I'm doing. I am happy with the quality and ease of use of this masterpiece.[...]. I could go on and on praising the whole experience, which was wonderful. What more could I say.

Comments about Olympus E-P2 Pen Digital Camera w/ 14-42mm Zuiko Lens & Electronic Viewfinder (Black):
I have looked long and hard for a travel/everyday camera and this is it. I am a long time Pro user of Olympus gear and have hoped for this to be an iteration in the 4/3's line.
The E-P2 evokes a feeling of confidence and nostalgia which I have not felt in quite a while. The camera bekons me to take it everywhere and shoot it at will.
Pros:
-Build quality is second to none in this price range.
-Ergonomically the camera is perfect for me, even with largish hands it falls to hand very nicely
-image quality is stupendous. I have alway been blown away by the E3 but this is even better.

Comments about Olympus E-P2 Pen Digital Camera w/ 14-42mm Zuiko Lens & Electronic Viewfinder (Black):
This camera exceeds my expectations on photo quality. I have a D700 taht I usually use for shooting the kids but it is hard to carry around with the 200mm VR Lens. I bought the EP@ as a point and shoot of sorts and mounted a Lumix 20 1.7 lens. Great combo for shotting casually anywhere. The autofocus is definitely poor when you are in dimmly sit situations but for the most part it runs about the same as any other cheap point and shoot. D700 kills it in auto focus speed but EP2 wins on portability. The viewfinder is incredible in terms of image quality. It's a really fun camera to own. I love the menu controls. You get a ton of control over this camera once you figure it all out.

Comments about Olympus E-P2 Pen Digital Camera w/ 14-42mm Zuiko Lens & Electronic Viewfinder (Black):
I initially owned the GF1 which in its own way is a great micro 4/3rds camera. After reading many reviews and looking at various photographs taken by other owners I decided to buy the EP2. The reviews are really mixed, which if you don't give them some serious thought you would probably buy the GF1. Well I have to tell you this camera is SWEET.This little gem feels real good in your hands. Its also very substantial...weighted very nicely. The eye viewfinder beats the GF1's hands down there is no comparison. The images the Olympus produces are film like..In comparison to the GF1 photos as far as clarity, sharpness, and color balance they are right on target. It's a great camera. If I had initially thought about or knew the Olympus existed I would have purchased it first. If your considering a micro 4/3rds buy the Olympus...you will not regret it.
