For media mavens who want to play, record, and archive their music, photos, and videos across a variety of storage formats, the Panasonic DMR-EH69GA-K Multi-Zone 320GB HDD/DVD Recorder offers a dizzying array of choices that will satisfy the most demanding requirements. We've imported this European version specifically so you can enjoy more options than you'll usually find on North American models.
The multi-system device includes a 320GB hard disk drive, a DVD recorder that works with single- or dual-layer discs, a USB port, and an SD memory card slot. Content can be recorded from one format to another, depending on file type and size. The DMR-EH69GA-K has a PAL tuner, and can also record SECAM programming. This model also plays NTSC region 1 (USA) discs via HDMI or A/V inputs but cannot receive over-the-air US TV signals.
If you've got video or audio devices that you'd like to hook up to the DMR-EH69GA-K for additional recording options, you're in luck. The Panasonic recorder includes an assortment of inputs that will meet your needs. For playback, the DMR-EH69GA-K provides digital and analog outputs including HDMI, optical, component, and composite jacks.
The DMR-EH69GA-K is also chock full of features that once you try, you won't be able to do without. For example, if the machine should run out of room when recording a TV program to DVD, it records the overflow onto HDD. During recording, the Auto Scene Chapter function inserts chapter marks between scenes for easy review. And when playing a CD or recording it to HDD, the DMR-EH69GA-K taps into the embedded Gracenote Database to supply information about the music and the artist.
Almost needless to say, the Panasonic DMR-EH69GA-K is a superb DVD/CD player. The unit includes 1080p upconversion, Dolby Digital, and Linear PCM for brilliant video and audio. The recorder also offers high-speed data archiving, Viera Link compatibility for convenient control of compatible HDTVs, and a simplified graphical user interface for easy function selection, among its other attributes.
If you do a lot of recording and need to work with multiple content formats and storage media, the Panasonic DMR-EH69GA-K Multi-Zone 320GB HDD/DVD Recorder is your audio-visual dream machine.

Comments about Panasonic DMR-EH69GA-K Multi-Zone 320GB HDD/DVD Recorder:
I have been using Panasonic DMR EH 55 for years, it is a very good HDD recorder and it is a shame that Panasonic does not carry newer HDD recorders in the US market. This EH69 model, I can connect to Comcast tuner's component output and HDMI cable between EH69 and TV. Since I am familiar with EH55, transition (actually add on) was simple. Instruction book is not very clear about how to set the clock though I finally figured out without the book. Recorded Comcast HD picture quality is not as good as watching the flat panel TV with over-the-airantenna reception, but acceptable.[...]I have been playing nothing but Region 0 DVDs, so far, I had no problems. The thing I like most: clean video editing capablities.

Comments about Panasonic DMR-EH69GA-K Multi-Zone 320GB HDD/DVD Recorder:
I have bought so far 10 units and 4 were not working out of the box, [...] a lot to do with the manufacturer. The 4 units not working were not purchased through B&H. These units apparently are sourced through indirect channels, I have no idea why Panasonic makes units available but not really...

Comments about Panasonic DMR-EH69GA-K Multi-Zone 320GB HDD/DVD Recorder:
Unfortunately I ordered this product after I was misinformed about the capability to use in the US. After I received the unit, I had to purchase a plug adapter because it does not come with one that fits US outlets. Then I discovered that the manual says it is 220V. So I had to "chat" to see if I needed an upconverter for the voltage. No, it has been reworked. Then I went to hook it to my cable. The cable outlets on the unit are also not for US use so I went and purchased adapters for those. Finally I got it hooked up. I could set the clock and that was it. It would not play any channels..whether I tried automatic set-up or manual. So after all of this, I contacted B & H Photo who allowed me to return the unit.

Comments about Panasonic DMR-EH69GA-K Multi-Zone 320GB HDD/DVD Recorder:
I bought this DVR as a replacement for my DMR-EH55 which broke. I also have a DMR-EH50 which is excellent, and after 5 years, still worth more than it cost me (check on a certain auction site and you'll see).
The down side, of course, is that the tuner is PAL, therefore you can't automate channel changes, or use RF input. But who cares? I only record using composite cables anyhow.
I was nervous about plugging a 240 machine into 110 volts, but not nearly as worried as I would have been about the reverse! It works fine on 110... it must be auto-switching. Clock is 24 hour, which I'm fine with, and programming is a bit clunky, like the DMR-E50 and DMR-EZ48VK (both non-HDD).
For what is available in terms of hard drive DVRs now, this is a bargain. I'm very happy with it. I record NTSC cable shows and I copy home videos to DVD.

Comments about Panasonic DMR-EH69GA-K Multi-Zone 320GB HDD/DVD Recorder:
I use this product to make multiple DVD copies of concert and recital filmings.
It's fast and easy to use, once you get the hang of the menu functions.
This is actually the 3rd generation of this type of Panasonic product that I have purchased. I'm very happy with the large HDD storage space on this unit, since I need to archive programs for a long period of time.
Though designed for the overseas market, this unit comes with the proper AC adaptor.

Panasonic really knew what they were doing and knew what I needed when they created this deck. They are reliable and fast and are ready to record without notice. The hard drive capability is a life saver.
