The RP-HC55 Noise-Cancelling In-Ear Stereo Headphones headphones from Panasonic provide high-quality audio and excellent ambient noise reduction in a compact in-ear design. The headphones have neodymium drivers to deliver premium-quality sound with a wide frequency response. Active noise cancellation technology helps to reduce ambient noises by up to 88%.
The headphones come with 3 different sizes of soft rubber eartips to provide a snug and comfortable fit. A proper fit creates a seal in the ear, which provides natural noise isolation. A cord holder is provided for convenient tangle-free storage. The standard 3.5mm stereo mini plug is compatible with a wide variety of MP3 players, CD players, and more. A dual-prong airplane adapter included for connection to in-flight entertainment systems.

If you are like me, and read every review you can get your hands on, trust me when I say these headphones are excellent. My search for good headphones took me to [...] looking for anything that sounded better than the stock ipod gear. Well, I returned everything that I bought, due to poor sound quality. I turned to Consumer Reports, and they reccommended these headphones under their noise cancelling category. If you are looking for something to cancel all the noise, then maybe these aren't for you, they do a good job, but all is not canceled. They do, however, provide a good ear to bud connection. They fit great and are comfortable. The sound is clear and has lots of bass. The volume control is a plus, and goes much louder than that of my ipod touch. The only negative I could find is that you have to have a working battery for them to work. Also, the battery compartment is about at your belly if you have them on, so it can be awkward if you just let it hang freely. It does however, have a clip on it, so it is easily clipped onto a shirt/pocket.

I bought these as a replacement for my Bose Noise Cancelling headset. I do a lot of travelling and the Bose are great but bigger than I want to carry in by computer case. For the price these seemed worth trying.
The noise cancellation is pretty good. The only problem is the fit in the ear which is part of the noise cancellation.
If I move around, the earpiece loosens and lets sound in around the earpiece. It came with 3 sets of rubber ear cups. The medium size seemed to loosen too easily so I tried the small size and that was worse. I am 6' and 190 pounds.
This is my first use on a trip and I am in Atlanta. When I fly home tomorrow, I will try the large size but I think the medium will be the best.
I think the sound quality is very good. I find that with the earphones on but not plugged in to music, I can hear the voices in the plane more clearly than the Bose. I don't have to pull them out of my ear to hear the flight attendant if I turn down the music.
I love the volume control. It makes it convienent to control overly load or soft music streams from my Ipod or the airplane sound system.
Overall, I think these let you hear better when you turn off the music than the Bose, but do not block out as much noise.
They are worth the price. I Think the Bose are better for comfort.

Looks like 88% of noise is cancelled (not 100%) during the flight. Earplugs fit my ears very well (midsize). Sound is good overall, but may fail on high tones -saxophone in single play in my case.

We just took a 4 hour airplane ride and used these to watch a movie on our I-pad. We were even seated over the wings where it's the loudest and the outside noise was negligible. The sound from the movie itself was crystal clear. They are easy to use and light weight. We love the optional sizes for the ear plugs.

I bought these headphones as they were a Consumers Report Best Buy. I then read the CR reviews and was immediately sorry I had ordered them.
When they came from B+H I gave them a try and was glad I did. The sound and noise canceling are great. My only concern is if they stay in my ears while I mow the lawn. They do stay secure while I work at the desk and with moving around the house. Best part of them is that I don't have to stress over losing them or breaking them as they are so much less expensive then comparably performing head phones...

I use the product with my mp3 player at the gym and when taking the metro. I can listen to my music at a lower volume, with is better for my ears. The only thing that I don't like about them is that the power source for the headphones is a bit cumbersome. The frequency response is amazing and allows me to hear more of the music and the bass is really kicking, but its a teeny bit too much for my taste. I love them though.

Use: Drummer for band, occasional home use
Great: Allow me to get a cleaner sound without background noise. Also - allow me to ignore my parents better! ("But I couldn't hear you!")
Not Great: Really, nothing that I can think of.
The price was great, and the quality of these things stand out. I like the lightness and the fit. They work well for light gigs and for practice with an MP3 player.

I liked it enough that when I accidentally cut through the cord with my scissors, I just ordered the same thing.

My husband bought these headphones for a trip we were taking. He loved them and was using them, when in the course of being a good Samaritan, he broke them and was very upset as this was the first time he was using them! His birthday was coming up, so I ordered another pair and he was so happy! He loves the noise canceling feature. He just wishes the battery was a little more compact.

I was surprised at the low quality. I tried all 3 sets of earbuds and never got the product to work at all. I use my Bose 3 all the time but wanted something more lightweight/portable, but was very disappointed. I returned them for a refund immediately.

I bought these to help make air travel more pleasant. While the Bose ear phones are great, they are much more expensive and relatively bulky. The Panasonics are effective, have good sound, are comfortable and fit in your pocket. I would buy them again.

Comments about Panasonic RP-HC55 Noise-Cancelling In-Ear Stereo Headphones:
CR gave this product rave reviews, so I thought it would be a smart purchase. Unfortunately it seems that the fit is critical, and although three different sized ear pieces are provided, none worked well for me. I have an inexpensive set of AR noise reducing earphones (not noise canceling) and they work much better, are lighter and more comfortable. These might work for you, but for me they're a waste of money.

The noise canceling was great!! I don't know how I traveled without noise canceling headsets before. What makes these so much better than other options is the compact size, perfect for traveling. They also came with a convenient travel bag that is about the size of a roll of quarters.
I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

Comments about Panasonic RP-HC55 Noise-Cancelling In-Ear Stereo Headphones:
Good sound quality. I'm hoping that the battery doesn't run out of juice quickly like it does on other noise-cancelling headphones that I own. It's also a bit of a hassle to keep the ear pieces from tangling. Small and easy to bring along on an airplane.

These are very comfortable to wear while doing most anything. I mostly use them for travel and exercise. They are battery powered from an in-line container the houses the battery. It has a clip that attaches to your shirt to keep it handy for changing the volume.

Love these for travel because they are so small. Compared to the Bose Noise-Cancelling headphones they are so compact. Come with a carry bag to keep untangled and ready to use. Perfect to grab and go!
Comments about Panasonic RP-HC55 Noise-Cancelling In-Ear Stereo Headphones:
I work in an area with noisy compressors and pumps that are constantly running. Needless to say, these things work! The whole cacophony is reduced to a whisper of white noise (when music is not on). Great price too! Thanks!
