Miller Compass15 Solo 3-Stage Carbon-Fiber System
The Compass15 Solo 3-Stage Carbon-Fiber System from Miller is a combination tripod and fluid head system designed for use with HDV, DVCAM, XDCAM, and P2HD cameras. It features a three-stage, telescoping design of carbon-fiber construction. Leg angle locks are available for height adjustment. Other features include a 60mm sliding camera plate, 75mm ball leveling, and spoke/rubber feet for extra stability.

There is so much twist in the legs when you pan, it doesn't matter much whether or not there is rebound in the head.. You're gonna get rebound, even on the lightest settings. I'm using an EX1R with lots of attachements, shoulder mount.. Maybe the system just requires a lot more weight to be in spec? I can't say, all I know is that for [$] I'm surprised that they can't do any better than this.

I like this rig. I bought it for my Canon XH-A1 which has a 20:1 zoom so I want stability and great panning out there .. and it does. The counterbalances are a bit stiff at first but mine are loosening up with use and it takes a bit of work to find your right balances.
After the Manfrotto leg click locks I was a bit dubious about the screw ones. But I had a demo at Millers HQ in Sydney and it was explained that you don't have to screw the locks up tight just half a turn will do. And keep the legs in and screw all the locks in one go .. easy when you know how. Extend one leg only and it's a monopod.
Mark temporary lines on the legs for your working height then once you're happy .. make them permanent. The CF legs are not that much lighter than the aluminium ones but they're more stable.
The only downside is the soft bag, the next one up for airline travel is out of my price range.
Camera bodies come and go but a good tripod will last a lifetime .. wish I knew that when I started out.
