The e-Films e-LCR Lockable Card Reader is a card replacement for the Sony EX1 and EX3 camcorders. This device allows you to use SDHC memory cards in devices that use Sony SxS Pro Memory cards. The e-LCR supports 1GB to 32GB SDHC cards, and records all major video formats supported by the Sony EX1 or EX3 camcorders. It does not matter if you are shooting 1080i, 720P, PAL or NTSC, the e-LCR has you covered.
e-Films e-LCR Lockable Card Reader has a lockable mechanism for SDHC memory cards, that makes this a true tape replacement. Using SDHC cards will keep unit cost low during video production. The e-LCR gives Sony EX series camera owners an affordable recording media instead of traditional high cost sealed solid-state SxS cards.

Comments about E-Films e-LCR Lockable Card Reader:
I bought two of these when I purchased a PMW-EX1R about 10 months ago. I have used these with approved SanDisk 32GB cards and more recently with the even less expensive Patriot LX 32GB SDHC cards. I have never had an error or lost a frame.
The e-LCR combined with the LX memory cards provide an extremely economical means of EX recording.
I chose the e-LCR reader instead or the MxR because I like the larger form factor and prefer not to swap the SDHC cards in and out of the reader. (I fear misplacing the small SDHC cards.)
You need to buy the e-Films USB reader unless you are using a laptop computer with an express card slot.
Don't hesitate to use these readers along with e-Films verified SDHC cards. Do make sure you have the appropriate card reader.

Comments about E-Films e-LCR Lockable Card Reader:
I puchased this to test in my EX1R as a back up to the regular cards. I have found it work. It does have one issue on the production side which has and easy fix. It does not work in the Sony SBAC-US10 SXS card reader. I took the SD card out and tried a regular card reader and it showed up in Final Cut Log and Transfer. I have not tested any over or under cranking on this as of yet.

I found this SD adapter to be a great inexpensive back up to the SXS cards. I use it with the sony EX350 XD and all files transfer seamlessly.

Comments about E-Films e-LCR Lockable Card Reader:
After reading about a number of people using these to dramatically increase recording times on the EX-series cameras, I picked up two of them, along with two SanDisk 32GB Extreme SDHC Memory Cards.
The SanDisk cards had all sorts of errors & required re-starting the camera and re-formatting (twice). It was just annoying enough (and constantly disconcerting that I got errors all the time) to not be worth it.
I exchanged e-mails with eFilms, and evidently there's a known issue with certain SanDisk cards.
I was committed enough to making it work, so I asked them to tell me exactly what cards to buy & I'd exchange the SanDisk cards for something that worked more reliably.
After not hearing back for two weeks, I returned everything (Card Readers and SanDisk cards) and I'm calling it done.
Great idea. Poor customer service in helping me find a solution that works. Since then, I've talked to several others who fought with similar issues, only to send it all back & resign themselves to paying too much for SxS cards.
I hope eFilms can get it worked out. (Or at least get better at responding to e-mails and recommending media that they've tested.) That seems like it should be pretty easy.

Merchant response: E-films response:
It turned out these Sandisk cards would have worked fine, they just needed to be formatted manually in the camera rather than let the camera do it automatically. Information on all our products including a list of tested media is available on the E-films website. We have thousands of customers who have purchased e-LCR cards and are very happy with them, only a handful have been found faulty and have been replaced. We welcome anyone who might be having issues with this product to let us know.
