I am a professional sound mixer who needed a cart to haul some cases around on and give me a area to work from. So I bought this cart and the Shelf and Decklid. The cart is well built and BH is the only place that gives you the run flat tires for same price as normal air filled tires. So that is why I bought the cart from BH. The only cons to the cart are the Shelf and Deck Lid which are extra and only needed if you plan on using the cart to work from. The bolts that hold the shelf to the frame aren't long enough so I had to buy some longer bolts for $5.00 at a hardware store which wasn't a big deal. The deck mounting blocks were to close to the edge of the cart making it hard to secure it so it was easy to fix just took a wood chisel and trimmed a inch off each of the wood mounting blocks.
Overall I love the cart and still think the shelf and deck lid are a good buy you just need to work on them a little bit like most gear I own

I'm a video pro who had high hopes for this item. Although the concept is good, I think the execution and quality control are abysmal.
First, it's heavier than sin. In and out of your vehicle, especially with the decks attached, is a real effort.
Second, the design is nowhere near as good as I was led to believe. The way the handles fold up and into those little tab slots by bending them seems so "garage" to me. And the tabs barely stop the handles from coming back out. The handles are also loose when raised... they jiggle back and forth when pushing or pulling the cart so it all feels loose and poorly executed. I had to tape metal washers onto the handles to reduce the play! And why square steel tubing? Square tubing is heavier and less efficient than round tubing.
Then, the holes for attaching the optional decks are too small (or the bolts are too big). You have to screw the bolts into the holes and THEN put on the wingnuts! Which brings up another point... why on earth were the decks, and how they expand and attach to the cart, designed the way they are? They are a PAIN to attach! It seems to me by the time I get this cart fully put together (with decks) and ready to roll someone else with a standard cart will have made 2 or 3 trips and gotten everything transported.
And that bottom deck with the clunky wooden tabs, painted plywood, and stapled carpeting is SO "garage".
The no flat wheels are way too hard to be thought of as all-terrain. I went to go over an empty garden hose and the whole thing skidded to a stop against the smaller casters. A GARDEN HOSE! I was hoping that they would have more give.
All in all, this design might be great in the smaller sizes but as far as this large model, it just doesn't scale up. A real bummer.

Comments about MultiCart 8-in-1 Equipment Transporters - R12NF All-Terrain:
This cart is a staple for any photographer doing location work. This is the version with run-flat wheels, which are a big improvement over the inflatable tires as everyone I know with the inflatable tires has had problems with them. The cart is extremely well built and a bargain at the price it is offered. It also compacts down far enough to make it super easy to pack into any car.

A great cart that you can move gear with and then toss into your vehicle. It was a bit of a pain to assemble, but with a little sandpaper and elbow grease - the front wheels fit into their spaces just fine.
This version has solid wheels so you don't need to keep an inflator nearby like with some carts.

Big fan of this product - purchased for moving conference equipment in and out of a hotel and my whole staff loved it. Very maneuverable. Looks good. Folds down nicely. Appropriate for medium duty work - don't load it with construction equipment, but boxes and shipping cases are fine.

I use this cart for transporting a large Pelican case and grip bag. The smallest position is perfect for c-stands and fits into elevators. It's well-built for the price and easy to maneuver. Collapsed, I can fit the cart in the front seat of my small sedan, but I normally leave it in the trunk. This was the best four-wheel cart I could find for the price that is small enough to fit in a car. If you drive a truck or van that has more space, a Magliner might be a more durable choice, but they are much longer and heavier. I'm not sure I'd trust the Multicart as a table, but it's fine for hauling gear.

After previously having the R6 model with pneumatic wheels on the back, I was pleased to see the multi-carts are now being built with new R-trac wheels. These surprisingly light, foam-filled tires perform very similar to the old air-filled ones and I am glad not to have to deal with checking them anymore. I really needed to upgrade to a bigger cart, so I decided on the R12 since it's the largest in the line. It was pretty simple to put together, but I do have to say, like some of the other reviewers, that I was a little disappointed with the cosmetics of the cart straight out of the box. Not only were the paint & adhesive strips messed up in several places, but some of the plastic ends which fit inside the rails were either askew or falling out. Shouldn't affect the usability though, so the R12 still gets 4 stars from me. I do think it is a reliable, road-worthy, back-saving companion for my mobile DJ work. Only time will tell if it lasts as long as my old R&R cart, but I expect it will. [...]

I shoot weddings, and for some of the weddings I shoot I can't always park near the venue. I used to make 2-3 trips back to the truck to get everything, but with the multi-cart, I just have to make one.
Being portable and foldable is the best quality. I can just fold it up when I'm done and throw it in the back of my truck. The solid rubber wheels roll over just about anything, and you never have to worry about them going flat.
Well worth the money.

i am a mobile dj, this cart is sturdy and versatile. i should have gotten one a long time ago. it is totally worth the money, the performance is so much better than a regular $80 convertible hand truck. my only warning is that the large all-terrain front wheels dont turn as easily as regular small wheels so swiveling in a small space is tricky, sometimes you have to point the wheels in the right direction with your foot. it's a trade-off for having the larger wheels. if you really dont go over grass or bumpy terrain, you may want to stick to the smaller wheeled unit.

Comments about MultiCart 8-in-1 Equipment Transporters - R12NF All-Terrain:
I have had the R6 cart for several years and appreciate its ruggedness, versatility and easy rolling over a variety of surfaces. But I needed a way to carry even more equipment and thought the "all terrain" model with bigger front wheels and non-pneumatic tires would work even better on some of the rough surfaces I encounter. I'm pleased so far and it seems to work well. Two small complaints are that the cable to release the end stops can be difficult to operate at times, and the fit and finish of the parts is not really up to par for an item costing this much. However, it is very sturdy and smooth rolling. I have had to replace the non-slip tape on my older one a couple of times as this peels off after some use. These concerns don't justify deducting a star from what is, all in all, one of the most practical and essential tools in my kit.

This cart is used to transport video and lighting gear. The multicart can accomodate large cases(49in.long) by simply extending it's slide bars and locking in place( 2 knobs at bottom of unit).
The handles fold/extend by pulling up on a thin tension cable located at hinge base.
It is compact, fairly light, very well made and fits easily in a trunk or back seat of car.
I have transported equipment piled as high as the top of the handles, and the multicart maintained excellent balance(without secure straps)throughout our travels. This has saved us several back/forth trips when using hand trucks.
Do seriously consider the large wheels of this unit for uneven terrain, heavy equipment and getting in/out of elevators(small casters get stuck in that floor gap !)
The multicart has served us very well. You will not be dissapointed with your purchase!

I use this cart to haul all of my production gear. It holds several hundred pounds with no problems and folds up for easy storage. The tube-less wheels are nice in that I don't have to worry about them going flat. Handles well on dirt and uneven surfaces. Easy assembly.
