Audio-Technica's AT-SP21 BK Compact Speakers are an economical way to enjoy your music without headphones. Simply insert the speakers' mini-plug into your MP3 player or other portable audio device's 3.5mm headphone jack. No batteries or AC power is required because the AT-SP21 speakers run off your audio device's power. When you're done listening, the speakers fold up for easy storage or transport.

My actual rating is ZERO. Weak sound. Too bad, it looks good but does not deliver.

Comments about Audio-Technica AT-SP21 BK Compact Speakers:
This looked so cool when I saw it. (It was selling for under twenty bucks at Christmas.) I have an ipod touch and looked forward to listening to my podcast list in the car. I usually put them on CD but it's time consuming to do that.
This thing does not require a battery. Just take the mini plug, stick it in your ipod and ta-da, listen while you drive.
Not quite. The audio is hopelessly low. To the point that the thing is useless. What a disappointment. Yeah, and it's not the settings. Checked all that. So now it's a paper weight. Don't need it in the house. I have much nicer speakers for that.
So I'm still on the search for a nice portable speaker I can use in the car. Why radios don't have a RCA or mini in is beyond me and my car is too new for a cassette device. (The cassette mini inputs for ipods/any-device work really well.) And as far as those radio dial in devices--don't bother. I commute from the farmland to Boston and I can tell you I've tried them all and they are nothing but frustration. And I don't use ear-buds and drive. I do enjoy my life. It's sort of why I don't text and drive either.
So it's back to burning CD's. What a bummer. But if someone knows of a nice portable cheap, loud enough, mini-input speaker, I'd be happy to hear about it.
