BlackRapid BRAD (Black Rapid Arm Defense)
The Black Rapid BRAD (Black Rapid Arm Defense) (Black) is primarily designed for the Black Rapid RS-7 strap but it can also work with the RS1-5 straps. It attaches to the strap for a more secure fit during action shots. Worn under the arm, the BRAD will make sure that the strap stays put. It attaches using 2 strap hooks and a quick release buckle.

The BRAD was easy to attach to the Black Rapid strap. The only problem I had with the BR strap was the pad slipping off my shoulder as I brought the camera up to shooting position. I was constantly readjusting it. With the BRAD attached the pad does not move off my shoulder. It only takes a few extra seconds to clip on and is comfortable to wear.
The cost is a little high but it does work. I'm glad I got it.

It loses a star for not being included with the strap originally. It's just another way for them to take your money. The main strap is flawed because it requires the brad strap to function without hastle. The brad strap does eliminate the hastle.
It loses a star for the price. FAR too overpriced.
Loses yet another star because it doesn't clip on very effectively. If you have to put your camera down you'll find the brad strap can easily come off. If the back clip comes off it's very tricky to get back on.
Overall, I have a love hate relationship with this thing. It's absolutely needed because the RS strap is flawed without it. It works when needed. But it's design is terrible and the extra cost of buying this separately when it should be included with the RS strap really rubs me the wrong way.

I'm a wedding and portrait photographer so I'm constantly moving. I LOVE my Black Rapid RS-W1 strap but found that it was slipping around quite frequently and usually the camera would slide around to my front(even with the bumpers in place) where it would be in the way.
I got the Brad attachment after a recommendation from a friend and found that it would fit my RS-W1. I found it easy to attach and adjust, and the little bit of elastic on it make it comfortable to wear even when you're moving.
It does a good job keeping my RS-W1 in place when it's hanging, but I am having a bit of an issue when I bring the camera up; with the weight of the camera & lens no longer on the strap I'm finding the Brad still pulls the strap down when I bring my camera to my eye, and this causes my RS-W1 to slip off of my shoulder completely and hang around my arm, which means I have to re-adjust every time I put the camera back down. A little annoying but survivable and at least I don't have to worry about my camera swinging around to the front anymore when it's hanging.

A nice addition to my Black Rapid RS-7 strap. I used my strap before I bought the Brad. The strap would need some adjusting from time-to-time during a High School football game shoot. After purchasing the Brad I have used it on two occasions. Love it! Strap stays where it should and makes my day much easier so I can concentrate on shooting the game.

I picked this up after having my blackrapid for some months now, to stop the twisting and shifting of the strap sometimes I find that the strap could need a little stable hold and the brad is jut the fit. I find its a bit pricy being that the blackrapid is already priced little high this should of bin included in the package for free. It works ok and not bad at all very well quality, but if your a hardcore photographer you will be seeing replacements after a few years, but not for this piece since I only use it when I need to. Its good for the support but should have bin free.

Easy to use and easy to install. I attached this to my RS-7 and it stabilizes the strap every time I use my camera. Without the BRAD mod, the strap sometimes tends to go out of place and so I have to adjust it to put it back in place. Overall, I am satisfied with the product.

I love my Black Rapid strap but the strap always moved out of position.
While watching a Gavin Hoey tutorial i noticed his Black Rapid had this extra strap, so then I did some research, and had to have the (BRAD).
Works perfect! now my B.R. strap stay in place like it should.

I use this with the RS-5 strap. It is essential to stop the shoulder pad slipping off your shoulder when you shoot. But I find that the illustration seems wrong. This only works effectively when the BRAD is fitted on the same side as the camera, rather than on the shoulder strap side as illustrated.

I loved the blackrapid strap from day one, within months of purchasing it I realized that the strap would move thereby moving your angle to grab the camera.
This little device is the fix for that strap movement. Although it works as intended now it makes it a little "tricky" to put the strap on. Meaning the strap can get twisted and now requires more thought to put it on. I would have liked to have seen a snap in connector to the main strap vs. the linked in connector. This way you could still put the strap on just as easy as before and "snap" in the BRAD device.
