LensCoat Canon Lens Cover (Black)
The LensCoat Canon Lens Cover (Black) is designed to fit a Canon EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS autofocus lens. It covers the lens with a 100% closed-cell neoprene coat that protects the lens from bumps and scratches. Ideal for nature and outdoor photographers, and for sports shooters and photojournalists. The cover helps break up the shape of the lens, making it less noticeable to wildlife and more comfortable to hold. It also provides a thermal barrier, protecting your hands from cold lenses in lower temperatures. The cover is waterproof, providing protection in inclement weather.
This version comes in a matte all-black finish to better blend in where desirable. Or, it can be used just for its protection value.

I bought the LensCoat cover for my Canon 18-200mm lens knowing that the complaint in general about these covers is that they are awfully expensive for a few pieces of stretchy neoprene.
I do like that the lens is always cool to the touch even with the black cover, even in the sun. This makes handling more comfortable as well as protecting the lens. I tend to go hiking with my camera, and I do like having an additional barrier between my camera and the rocks.
I have problems with the smaller neoprene segment designed to go over the IS on/off and AF/MF switches. The cut-out in the neoprene doesn't fit over that area of the lens correctly. The cut-out for the lens lock button misses it by a mile, and you can't see the white-guide dot for placing the lens on the camera.
That being said, if you are looking at the LensCoat to protect your lens from banging it into things, you, like I, will probably buy it, knowing that there are issues, but also knowing it is the best thing on the market currently.
