The SxS-1 G1 32GB Memory Card is an affordable Flash-based media option for Sony's XDCAM EX line of camcorders. Offering the same performance and reliability as the more expensive SxS Pro cards, the SxS-1 has about one-tenth the lifespan, which equates to 5 years with heavy use. These entry-level cards are ultra fast, durable, and can record up to 140 minutes of HD video.
Note! For compatibility with original EX1/EX3 cameras, a firmware update is required. See Sony's Compatibility Chart for more info.

I must admit, I have not used the card extensively as of yet, so I can't speak to it's longevity. But from the times that I have shot on it, it has performed perfectly well. Just like the full priced SxS cards. It's nice to have this cheaper alternative that retains full performance (unlike the flash memory cards which are not compatible with slow and quick motion shooting). From what I've read about these cards, they'll last plenty long enough to get your moneys worth.

In one of our EX3 cameras, the card would not format fully on its first use. It got to 79% and stopped. I was able to pop it in the other camera and format it properly, then pop it back in the first camera. Not sure if this is a camera issue - but this hasn't happened on the SxS Pro cards ever.

If you are looking for the alternative to expensive SXSpro cards... this is it!
Althought the lifespan isnt as long, I've found to just delete all clips instead of formatting the card works better.
Comments about Sony SxS-1 G1 32GB Memory Card:
I am using the card with a ex3. An upgrade was needed to the camera firmware to use the card. Everything works well and smoothly. I use to have a 8gb and the 32gb make such a big difference on set.

Comments about Sony SxS-1 G1 32GB Memory Card:
Works just like the 32gb SxS pro, sure it has about a tenth of the lifespan, but it'll last me at least a good 15 years (probably more), good deal.
Comments about Sony SxS-1 G1 32GB Memory Card:
For the price you'd be mad to buy the pro cards. Haven't had any issues and all functions of the pro cards work with this one including over cranking. The fact that the Ex1r gives you a usage/life meter is great.
Comments about Sony SxS-1 G1 32GB Memory Card:
I upgraded the firmware on my EX1 and it worked like a charm. I love having 32GB vs. 8!

I've used the SxS pro cards in the past, I'll be using these SxS-1 cards from now. By the time I've used up the number of write cycles the card life allows there will be larger cards on the market (probably at a cheaper price).
Comments about Sony SxS-1 G1 32GB Memory Card:
Works well. Has a limited lifetime, but mine is still at 100% after my first big shoot.

Comments about Sony SxS-1 G1 32GB Memory Card:
When I was wondering what camcorder would be the right one, I though that the EX1 would be great except for the price of this SxS card media. At that time I didn't know what was the meaning of "Solid-state" memory card. I finally made up my mind and I got the EX1, after that I learned about the "solid-state" thing and that is one of the things that make the difference between this camcorder and any other kind. The Z7 and other camcorders use cheaper cards but they aren't this good.
