The Portable DVD Writer from Transcend is a USB 2.0 DVD burner that can be powered by your computer. The drive can read and write all types of CD and DVD discs. Designed with portability in mind, the drive features a slim design with rounded edges for comfortable portage.
It includes CyberLink Power2Go software, which is compatible with Windows-based operating systems. The software lets you burn music, data, video, and bootable discs to any type of blank media. A 30-day trial version of CyberLink's MediaShow software is also included.

Just what I needed, something plug&Play to load Windows7 onto a brand new hard drive when my mini-pc crashed and required a reinstall. Just connected it to the laptop, booted to this external CD drive with no problem, and it has been working smoothly for cd/read&write, and dvd play. Nice size for my 11 inch pc which has no internal optical drive.

MY CD DRIVE CRASHED AND IT WAS REPLACE BY TOSHIBA AND CRASHED AGAIN. THE TRANSCEND PORTABLE DVD WRITER I PURCHASED WORKS GREAT AND INSTALLED EASILY ON WINDOWS 7 PLATFORM. GREAT PRODUCT.

I bought this so I could download software from DVD's to my netbook. I have Windows 7 on my netbook and as soon as I plugged in the drive, it automatically downloaded the drivers. I was a bit
worried that I would need both USB connections but the drive worked great with just one. It also plays pre-recorded DVDs!
