The QNAP VioStor NVR Network Video Recorder can be used to manage the viewing, recording, playback, and control of up to 24 IP cameras. Most major brand network cameras are supported including those from Axis, ACTi, Arecont Vision, and Sony. To accommodate the latest IP camera technologies, this NVR supports H.264, MPEG-4, MxPEG, and M-JPEG video compression methods as well as up to 8 megapixel resolution.

Along with its stable Linux-based operating system, this NVR uses a powerful Intel chip and high memory capacity to maintain reliable performance even when recording multiple megapixel cameras simultaneously. When using multiple QNAP servers, up to 120 cameras can be centrally managed from a single NVR, with up to 42 cameras viewable on one screen.

For video storage, this NVR is equipped with 8 internal HDD bays which can be populated with industry standard SATA drives for a total storage capacity of 16TB. A RAID configuration can be applied to multiple HDDs, greatly reducing the chances of lost video footage due to a hard drive failure. Two gigabit Ethernet ports provide the necessary speed for interfacing this NVR with the network.
