A roof prism binocular with a hearty feature-set that's easy on the wallet and the environment? Yes! - the Monarch ATB 8x42 from Nikon is here - it's layered with assets, and it won't break the bank when you bring one home.
Nikon's proprietary lead and arsenic free optical-glass formula, known as Eco-Glass, is used for all lenses and prisms in this fine Monarch binocular. All of the air-to-glass surfaces are fully multicoated to ensure maximum light transmission, sharpness, and contrast. The roof prisms are finished with a dielectric coating that enhances the efficiency of the optical system to near perfection.
This easy-to-handle optic is fully waterproof and fogproof, and a tactile rubberized exterior ensures a secure grip at all times. The centered focus knob is fast, accurate, and easy to use. A pair of multi-setting click-stop eyecups and a notable 15.5 mm of eye relief allow you to tailor the binocular to suit your needs - whether you're wearing glasses or not.

The best pair of binoculars I have ever used! I purchased these following a hunt where I used a pair my son had. All I can say is wow! It is amazing how well these binoculars perform.
I used to buy lower quality brands and kept thinking I needed more magnification to see the necessary details. I have discovered that these provide all the details and clarity I was looking for at lower magnification. I was hunting in Texas where you needed to be able to accurately judge a rack before you could shoot. The Monarch binoculars were superb at this.
The optical adjustment for glasses wearers were a plus. The optics are easy to focus and the 42 mm objective is great for low light.
Do yourself a favor and spend the extra few dollars for quality glass like this. It will make hunting, birdwatching, or just general outdoor observation much more pleasurable and exciting.

I bought a pair for each of my three boys thinking they would last for a long time. One pair was traded back to the store that sold them to me because it went bad in less than one week. With little use, all three are now disabled. The eye relief piece is terrible. They strip so they are either up or down not being able to adjust. If this could be fixed, they would be a good product; however, the way they are, it is like having Chinese Tools, you think you have something, but when you try to use them they break. The lens caps are also pretty lame. I would not recommend them because every pair we have had always does the same thing. Had I not bought them all at the same time for Christmas, I would only have one pair right now.

Comments about Nikon Monarch ATB 8x42 Binocular (Green):
I have been a birder for over 40 years. I have had the opportunity to lead birding tours both within the United States and internationally. These Nikon Monarch binoculars deliver great quality at an affordable price point. I also am a member of NABA (North American Butterfly Association,) and actively seek out butterflies, along with odins (dragonflies and damselfies.)
Am currently editing a book for a professional photographer, and use my new Nikon Monarchs on a daily basis. While in the past 40 years I have had numerous pairs of 'bins' (binoculars,) these Nikons have thus far been superior to binoculars I own at the $1,000 price point. In other words, they deliver what they say. Also superior in low light conditions. Would highly recommend them!

Comments about Nikon Monarch ATB 8x42 Binocular (Green):
I had some problems with the user manual. I didn't realize that the eyecups extend and retract. Once I realized that all of the other problems disappeared except for one. Under certain light conditions I get a purple cast on one side of a bird and a green cast on the other. If this continues I will ask Nikon for a replacement. The brightness is good; the strap is comfortable. The focus with glasses is OK. I wouldn't rave about it. The focus without glasses is much simpler. The bottom lens caps are poorly designed. They look cheap and sometimes they close in windy conditions. One very positive experience: In relatively heavy brush or tree growth you can see into different layers by simply adjusting the focus. The front layer virtually disappears as you adjust the focus.I had not experienced that before. It opened up another world for bird watching. I need more time with the binoculars before I would or would not recommend it.

We were looking for some waterproof binoculars for rafting and picked these for their combination of features, good reviews and affordability (they were on sale in January). We were so impressed we bought a second pair for a family member. Have not had a chance to try them out on the river but so far impressed with image quality - especially in low light conditions. I wear glasses and have no problem using these binoculars.

Comments about Nikon Monarch ATB 8x42 Binocular (Green):
These binoculars were recommended to me by a local bird enthusiast. They give a beautiful clear image without a lot of shaking because the magnification is enough without being too much. They are light enough to carry on a long hike and easy to adjust for use with glasses. I like that the eye lens covers stay attached to the strap so I don't lose them. They are helping me see nature up close from far away!!They are a quality binocular at a reasonable price.

We use these for birding and love them, very bright, clear images, not too heavy either. We had compact binoculars before and never could see anything properly, what a difference the Monarchs make. My wife almost gave up birding, now she's in the fold.

I am a fairly avid birder and have found these binoculars to be more than suitable. They are very sharp and easy to use. I feel the quality is superb for the money, and the Monarchs pretty much on par with more expensive models. Plus, if I drop them I won't be out a thousand dollars or more.

It was between purchasing Zeiss or Nikon Monarch. Considering my budget, quality and guarantee, I went with Nikon. You cannot go wrong with the Monarch. I am a happy camper now. My Bird Watching skills are escalating.
