Nikon, in partnership with SHE Outdoor Apparel, presents the SHE Adventure 8x36 ATB Binocular. With this stylish offering, Nikon merges their trademark optical excellence with attractive SHE styling; a high-quality embossed leather strap and a chic yet functional shoulder bag with a built-in optics case.
The 8x36 ATB (All Terrain Binocular) features a sporty Plum finish, ergonomic styling, and outstanding optical performance. The housing is coated with a rubber armor that provides added shock-resistance as well as a secure grip in wet or dry conditions. Turn and slide rubber eyecups with multi-click adjustments are complemented by extended eye relief - this allows the binoculars to be used comfortably by everyone, including eye/sunglass wearers.
Nikon designed the SHE Adventure 8x36 to perform on par with their obvious attention to fit, finish, and refined details. The lenses are manufactured from lead/arsenic-free Eco-Glass, and they're fully multicoated to ensure crystal-clear viewing at all times. The binocular's sleek form factor is owed, in part, to a pair of phase-corrected roof prisms that enhance clarity and sharpness. I look out on my lake to spy on my red tailed hawk. The binoculars are light and bright. Their weight is just comfortable enough to hold steady.
Cons: the binocular pouch is permanently attached within the large green shoulder strap bag. The pouch should be removable to be useful. The binocular straps are impossible to attach. I had to resort to on line assistance. English is nowhere on the limited instructions.

My main birding binoculars are Leica 8x32 BAs that I have used for nearly twenty years. I think I know something about good glass, and I find these binoculars very good, especially at this price. The carrying bag is roomy and surprisingly useful.
Regarding the eyepiece and objective covers that are mentioned in some reviews, there is a one-piece flexible upper cover that has cups for the left and right eyepieces, connected by a yoke. This attaches to the neckstrap (either side, depending on your handedness). This is standard for birding binoculars, as it allows you to uncover the eyepieces quickly with one hand for instant use. The objective caps friction fit and work fine, but the only time you would think of using these is when packing for transport. No sane birder or wildlife watcher runs around with the objectives covered -- that would be a surefire way to miss a fleeting glimpse at a good bird. FWIW, my Leicas did not even come with objective covers, and guess what: after nearly twenty years of *heavy* use, from the Dry Tortugas to British Columbia, the objectives have nary a scratch.
I like these bins so much that I ordered the "chocolate brown" 10x36 version for my husband, as backup for his 10x42 BAs. I figure a camo neckstrap will complement them nicely (and maybe I'll sew an NRA patch over the "S" on the bag...).

I just purchased these for an upcoming sightseeing trip after reading the reviews. I don't use binoculars often, but based on what I have seen so far, these are a great value for the money. these binoculars are lightweight and yet powerful enough to spot bluebirds and kingfishers in a marsh. easy to carry on a road trip or a
spontaneous walk. we used to view bluebirds and kingfishers.
several other birders had already purchased them and recommended them.. since the price was ninety dollars off the original, it was a great buy. btw, bhphoto mailed these to me in 2 days they arrived in excellent condition.

I knew I wanted monarch binoculars but I'm on a very limited budget. The price difference between the normal 8x36 monarchs and these is over a hundred bucks! I might be the only guy with them but I am not too proud to save the money and sport the purple. I did however replace the strap immediately and the fancy lime green bag stays hidden inside my manly black backpack.

I got this as a "thank you" gift for my sister. She likes the non-traditional plum color of the binoculars. She uses these primarily for birding and an occasional football game. I used them and was amazed at the clarity and brightness of them compared to my 8x42 Pentax DCF. Excellent binoculars and a little smaller and lighter.

I bought these as a back-up pair to carry in my car. I have a pair of 8x42 Monarchs that I've had for about 10 years, and I love them, so when I saw these 8x36's at this price, it was a no-brainer to purchase them. They are lightweight and fit my small hands well. The focus knob is ultra-smooth, the view is bright and sharp. I wear glasses and have no trouble seeing the full field of view...the eye relief is excellent. The cute bag and plum "girly" color were an added bonus. I like them so well I just ordered another pair for my sister (also a birder) for her birthday. These binoculars are well worth the money at full price...at the sale price and with the bag they are a steal!
