This is for a 2008 Mac Pro.
Spent quite a while looking around online for the least expensive option for this type of product. There seem to be a lot of really cheap bad alternatives with really bad reviews. I went ahead and bought this and it works. If you're looking to upgrade an older Mac Pro (i.e. you need this style RAM), save yourself the trouble and just get this pair. Just make sure you install them in the proper order (fill the top card, then the bottom).

For the Mac tower it is necessary to order this kit of RAM with the additional heatsinks. We installed these two sticks alongside 2x1GB sticks from Apple and an additional 2x1GB sticks installed when we bought the machine.Using the machine for motion graphics (After Effects, Motion) and editing (Final Cut) we ran out of RAM regularly and crippled our system by having to write to the hard drive cache.
