Canon FS300 Flash Memory Camcorder (Red)
Canon's FS300 Flash Memory Camcorder (Red) is an affordable standard definition cam that records up to 20 hours of video to removable SD/SDHC memory cards (20 hours per 32GB card). The FS300 uses Canon technologies such as the DIGIC DV II Image Processor, a 1/6" CCD sensor, 41x Advanced Zoom, and Dynamic Image Stabilization to help you capture your memories in sharp detail. Other useful features like the 2.7" LCD display and the built-in video light further aid in getting just the right shot.
In addition, the FS300 also gives you the ability to capture short 4 second video clips that can be set to music, and are ideal for Internet sharing. You can also capture 786k still images with the FS300 either in still mode or while recording video with Canon's Dual Shot mode. - With Quick Start, you'll never miss a quickly unfolding shot again. When the FS300 is in Camera Mode and the LCD panel is closed, it is placed in standby. When the action starts, open the LCD panel and you'll begin recording in less than one second. You'll also help extend your battery life as compared to leaving the camcorder in regular recording mode
- Dual Shot
- Dual Shot makes capturing video and photos fast and easy. Both types of images can be captured in the same mode - without requiring any switching. This ensures you will be ready to capture the action when it starts, helping you to avoid the chance of a missed shot
- Quick Charge
- When you've got a lot to shoot but not a lot of time to recharge your batteries, the Quick Charge feature comes to the rescue. In 20 minutes you can charge up to approximately 60 minutes of recording time! It's ultra-fast battery charging when you need it most

This Camcorder is a perfect little device for capturing moments in life. It doesn't pretend to give you more than it does and is simple to operate. The sound is quite good and the image was surprisingly good in low lighting areas. For a camcorder that is not HD it was a clear picture. Canon is always a worthy investment regardless of how inexpensive. The camera is light and that allows for a lighter tripod which is great for filming in places that require travel. This may be a little camera but I have a big love for my FS300 Flash Memory Camcorder.

Bought the FS300 because of great zoom and battery life as opposed to HD cameras. Had bought and returned the Samsung F40 (it's only a marginal toy). The Canon camera works well. Comes on quickly, starts and stops shooting quickly, controls are not complicated, autofocus is good - the camera is responsive. There is slight audio hum, but not an issue for me. Otherwise audio is acceptable.
If movie quality is primary for you, go HD. Knowing you are trading off zoom, battery life and price. Photos are not good. Maybe not even cellphone good - but great zoom.
The Pixela software with the camera is obtuse, unfriendly - terrible. Canon, please learn from FLIP. You can not download movies directly from the SD card - must use the software. Records MOD files which play nowhere - Pixela software must be used to convert to outdated MPG files. Although the camera will record 16:9 wide angle it's very difficult to play it back on anything and converting to standard costs dearly in video quality. Does Pixela provide a portable full screen view for wide angle - of course not!
The Pixela software instructions replete with statements of what it won't do. Like only DVD-R's can be burned. If you store video other than in Pixela secreted computer compartments you can't move it back to the camera for playing on a TV. Have spent hours messing with this crazy software - but, I am used to the uncomplicated FLIP.

I bought this camera for as my Mom's birthday present after she loved mine. We are both novice videographer/photographers and this camera is great for both of us. It's perfect for family videos and photos. It's small so it's fits in our purses and ready in a flash. We love it. The quality is excellent. It fits great in the palm of our hands and is very secure because of the strap. Battery life is great. Symbol on the display showing battery life and available memory card space is very helpful. It's comfortable and easy to use. The zoom is impressive. Hope this helps.
