Recording media is not included, be prepared - always carry extra media.
The Sanyo VPC-CS1 Dual Camera (Silver) is a pistol-grip style pocket camcorder armed with 1080i high def recording capabilities and 8MP photos (interpolated, 3MP effective). The slim and unassuming CS1 records the footage it takes to SD/SDHC and high capacity SDXC memory cards - giving you plenty of flash memory media options. It's also Eye-Fi compatible, which means wireless Eye-Fi SD cards can be used with the CS1 to wirelessly transmit your video and still images to a compatible computer. The CS1 also happens to be iFrame compatible as well. The iFrame video format (960 x 540/30fps) is the same format you'll shoot and edit with, making importing and editing on your Mac or PC a breeze.
The camera uses a 2.7" LCD for composition and review of footage on a wide platform. Other features like 10x Advanced Optical Zoom, a 38mm wide angle of view, and image stabilization all help play a role in recording your video and still images too. There's also Sound Zoom for enhanced audio quality. Other user-friendly features of the camera include high speed sequential photo mode, Face Detection, and HDMI playback on your HDTV, among others.

I use this camera for all my vacation and family outings. The video pictures are the best of any of the flash cameras that I have used in the past. Still pictures in low light settings are limited by not having a flash. The LED light helps in low light setting, as long as you are close to your subject.
Most of the controls are convenient. The still picture button is to high up to be quickly accessed.
The light weight and size are a plus.

The tiny and ultralight form factor is what attracted me to this camcorder, for having with me every day when I wouldn't usually think of carrying a camera, and giving better quality that you can get from a camera phone. Capturing adventure sports, climbing, skiing, backpacking, etc. is perfect with this camera, especially since I'm already carrying a lot of professional SLR gear for stills. I wanted a unit with a swivel screen so I can shoot myself while hiking or skiing, which I can't do with my LX3 P&S still camera. After 1 week of use, I have some impressions:
Pros: Tiny size, not much larger then a largish cell phone
Tripod socket for stability (useful, as the IS isn't that good)
Decent array of settings for such a compact unit
Fairly fast start-up time, and minimal battery drain while in stand-by mode with the LCD closed.
Surprisingly good audio performance
HDMI output to HDTV
Cons: HD video quality is only fair during good light, and not good with higher ISO's in indoor light - very noisy even with reduction on.
No flash, the small LED can illuminate very close shots (with an odd color cast and lots of light fall off away from center).
4-way controller is pretty hard to feel and clumsy to use, impossible with thin gloves an harder with big fingers.
Power on button is hard to access, and impossible to see, being black on black and hidden behind the LCD screen.
Hard to hold and not get a finger in the way of the lens.
Lens very prone to flare and ghosting, no way to add a filter or hood
Flimsy connector and battery doors feel like they will break off eventually, as does the little plastic lens cap.
Menu structure fairly clumsy, can only assign 4 functions to the 4-way controller buttons for immediate access.
Still photo button very hard to reach while shooting with 1 hand.
No control over zoom speed - all or nothing.
Stabilization not very good.
Still resolution not great, this is a 3 MP sensor interpolated up to 8 MP
Only 38mm on the wide end feels limiting after getting used to shooting video with an SLR.
If you can live with the limitations, it's still better than not having a camera with you when you want to capture a memory and not take the time necessary to set up, focus and capture video with the VDSLR.

I would use this camera as a door stop. The quality is so bad, that my webcam looks better. It is by far not and HD camera. Dont waste your money.

I was expecting so much more from this little cam, the product demo looked great...but this cam lacks heavily. I just took it out of the box, charged it, shot a few stills, and about 40 minutes of video...not 1 instance of the video or photo quality is up to the par of what should be expected from an HD cam...This thing performs more like a webcam...in fact I have seen webcams that perform a lot better than this thing....

Great little camera but the ways to use it are not evident and are somewhat byzantine to figure out. Steer clear unless you're willing to spend some time learning it; otherwise, forge forward.

We purchased two of them for our daughters for Christmas. We had them sent to them before Christmas so they could each take video of our Grand Children. The video was crisp and clean even the low light of early morning present opening. I would recommend this video camera to anyone who is looking for an extremely easy point and shoot video camera.

Comments about Sanyo VPC-CS1 Dual Camera (Silver):
This $$ Sanyo outperforms the $$$ Sony we purchased 2 years ago. Of all the advanced features on both cams, the night-light and easy downloading are better on the Sanyo. Plus, the Sanyo's newest technologies -- like image stabilization, automatic lighting adjustment, and directional microphone -- have eliminated many maladies that previously required post-shoot editing -- thereby, in my opinion, elevating this Sanyo to a prosumer level. Its the perfect tool for easily capturing life's moments -- like grandson's soccer games, birthdays etc. AND, unlike small but still cumbersome tradition camcorders, this guy fits in your pocket so we always have it with us. Too many spontaneous events were missed before because no-one's lugging around a handheld unit -- which required a fannypack, no matter how small it was compared to its predecessors.
The directional mic has been particularly amazing, picking out "our people" (where camera is aimed) even amidst three adjacent soccer fields with boisterous parents all hollering out encouragement to their kids just a few feet away from ours.
One drawback is the zoom feature is not very sensitive -- doesn't allow gradual zooming in/out (at least, I've not been able to accomplish gradual zooms, which are fairly easy with our previous handheld cams).

So far I've used this product a handful of times and while the size is great for traveling you have to suffer crowded buttons. The record button is smashed in with the zoom and photo buttons and it's super easy to accidentally hit the wrong button. We used the older HD1010 Sanyos which were awesome. Much more solidly built. All the ports on this have those pop-off style covers that have the little tab rather than a hinge and they feel cheesy. That's expected for this size but good to be aware of.

Comments about Sanyo VPC-CS1 Dual Camera (Silver):
Picture is extremely grainy and out of focused when taken in low light. I tried it out at a concert where i was just third row from the stage. the only source(s) of light were from the stage and all else was pitch black. various lighting was used from white to orange hue spot lights and i notice that under white light, the picture tends to be tad clearer.
also, battery life is extremely poor.

The VPC-HD FLASH CAMCORDER CS1 has fabulous features. It's small, easy to use with simple menu of choice in fast recording and playback. Their quality of Full HD widescreen display is wonderful. It's easy to take pictures with 8 mega pixels. The zoom allows a perfect framing of the scene. You need to have spare batteries for long use.
