The sleek and stylish Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX7 offers many features that help you take stunning photographs. Built into the camera there is a beginner-friendly Function Guide that helps you navigate through the various functions and settings displayed on the LCD screen. The camera might be ultra-slim, but the 10.2 Megapixel Exmor R CMOS chip will allow you to make big prints. The camera performs well even in lowlight along with its High Sensitivity Mode with an ISO of 3200, Handheld Twilight Mode and Optical SteadyShot Image Stabilization.
Fast moving subjects are not a problem since the camera can capture 10 frames-per-second. This, along with Motion Detection that adjusts ISO sensitivity and increases the shutter speed when motion is detected, will help ensure that you capture the decisive moment. To really see your subject in motion, the camera can shoot 1080i AVCHD HD movies.
Both stills and video are composed and viewed on the 3.5" Xtra Fine LCD touchscreen display. The display gives you the ability to select the focus point with a simple touch, scroll through images by sliding your finger across the screen, and one-touch access to the menu. Even when shooting in a tight space the 25mm wide-angle Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar 4X zoom lens will let you get your shoot. Other user friendly features include Intelligent Sweep Panorama, Face Detection, Smile Shutter, Anti-blink, iAudio and many more. The DSC-TX7 certainly is an extremely functional camera with having a beautiful form.

Camera takes great low-light photos. I'm glad Sony brought back the 3.5" touch screen. The HD video (1080i) is great, also in low-light conditions. Accepts SDHC cards = awesome. The only thing that bugged me is the lack of filters (Black & White, Sepia, etc.). Not important, but would be nice to have. Optical zoom is only 4x, but what do you expect from a very slim camera? Note: the silver color for this model is not like the silver color for the TX1, it is more like a meteor silver. All in all, a great value packed camera for its class.

Pros: For this money - none! Com'on people, brilliant photo quality? Awesome low-light pictures? Are you kidding me?Cons: Go for it if you are ok with fuzzy, interpolated, grainy images with random unrealistic color spots & tiny purplish dots all over the photo - just the quality my 10yr old cheap 4MP cam used to do.Also beware CD isn't compatible with 64bit platforms.Summary: I've owned previous Sony (and not only Sony) models that unfortunately have been discontinued, one of them - my favorite - is Sony DSCW7. But I could only find used ones to buy, which made me look for a new cam.If you're planning to take pictures of people, stay away from TX7. As opposed to some previous models, there's an issue with the TX7 lens that, the least to say, does not flatter the 'models' at all, making the faces look puffy, the noses - bigger, pimples - brighter, etc., you get the picture. And it doesn't flatter the body either, slightly distorting proportions, again, not in the model's favor.[...]

I use this product very often -- to shoot photos as well as movies.
It's LCD screen is big enough. The menu functions are clear to access. Quality of the images are great too.
The only thing I don't like about its design is, so easy to shoot pictures with my left hand finger included in the pictures; because the lens' location on the camera body is not good enough.

Just got the camera and still learning how to use it. However, it seems very simple. Low light pics are great which is a plus. Thought it had capability to take black and white pics but I dont think it does? All in all a great little camera.

I use this camera for pictures and i'm pretty amazed by the low light, some pictures actually look better without the flash and the 1080i video is really nice too, though the slider to open is different from the other model. I recommend a light push from the tip of your fingers to move the slider up and down, other then that it's really great so far.

Lots of impressive features, but the image quality was terrible, even on a bright low ISO condition. Apparently, the camera used too much noise reduction and pictures came out grainy.

I own Canon EOS 550D which is my primary camera. I still wanted to have optional point and shoot device. Sony seemed to have all function that I wanted in one good lookin packet and thats why I decided to go with it and I'm more than happy that I did. Camera has great image qualition, it looks great and touch screen functionality makes it easy to use and it works very nice. Also low light photos looks great. Battery life could be a little better and HD movie format should be some other commonly used format. But overall DSC-TX7 is just great.

I had a he** of a time getting an answer to my problem of transferring video to imovie '09 (8.0.6) on my mac (10.5.8). Sony tried, but was little help. I eventually ended up saving the video files as mp4. AVCHD may be great for viewing on an HD TV, but you'll need a third party conversion program to get them to show up on your mac. Even then it's going to convert it to mp4. If anyone has found a work around, please post it here and let me know.

panoramic function is really fantastic as is low light capability. the automatic backlight correction HDR is also quite handy.
only downsides so far is the battery life seems not stellar and it doesn't give you much warning when it starts getting low. also seems a bit hypersensitive to light. i've had a few glares pop up when i wasn't expecting them.

The camera is almost great, the best thing is its screen, it is really great to see you pictures and videos, and besides that the features to edit your photos are cool. The only problem is, it does not have a pause feature while recording.

I bought this camera willing to take perfect pictures with low light and to shoot great full HD moview. Fulfills it perfectly. If it performs tough tasks well, you can imagine how it deals with the easy ones. Be advised that the lens are wide angled, which gives you great picture, and the natural price of it is the barrel deformation, which you can fix easily afterwards.

I traveled to New York in June and needed a camera that can accurately depict the magic of the city. And I found this on tx7 Sony. The best feature of the camera and isweepypanorama who takes panoramic pictures so fantastic. Requires a certain precision. I found the camera a little heavy but nothing that disturbs me. Filming in HD are also perfect. I put the movies on a screen of 42 inches and not lose quality. Sony could have done with more megapixels, though 10 seems just not notice any problem in the photos. Wonderful, recommend to everyone

Ican capture the moment when I want, also at night it get beatiful pictures. HD camera is wonderful. Because of its size, carring it is not a problem anymore. Only the program that you import your pictures and videos is not efficient enough.

Comments about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX7 Digital Camera (Silver):
I use my camera for both stills shots and movies of family activities and sometimes alternating quickly between the two modes. I am moving up from my previous Sony DSC camera and the mode switching is quick and easy compared to before. I was also looking to upgrade the quality of the video image and this camera is fantastic. The panorama feature is fun, I am still playing with it but it certainly gets the initial "wow" factor points. I have only had the camera one month and have not had any operational issues. The sliding cover was noted in previous reviews as being difficult to open but I have overcome this by pulling with a short fingernail but I did have to study the best location to get a smooth pull and avoid the working parts under the cover. Low light photos are so much better and I enjoy the ease of exposure control when I need it,Overall, I am very happy with this purchase.

As a serious amateur photographer who usually shoots RAW (with my Canon 5D Mark II), this TINY camera is superb in producing JPEGs that are very good. I would like the battery life to be longer, but that's a tradeoff I'm willing to take for the picture quality. Haven't used the video yet.
