The sleek and stylish Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX7 offers many features that help you take stunning photographs. Built into the camera there is a beginner-friendly Function Guide that helps you navigate through the various functions and settings displayed on the LCD screen. The camera might be ultra-slim, but the 10.2 Megapixel Exmor R CMOS chip will allow you to make big prints. The camera performs well even in lowlight along with its High Sensitivity Mode with an ISO of 3200, Handheld Twilight Mode and Optical SteadyShot Image Stabilization.
Fast moving subjects are not a problem since the camera can capture 10 frames-per-second. This, along with Motion Detection that adjusts ISO sensitivity and increases the shutter speed when motion is detected, will help ensure that you capture the decisive moment. To really see your subject in motion, the camera can shoot 1080i AVCHD HD movies.
Both stills and video are composed and viewed on the 3.5" Xtra Fine LCD touchscreen display. The display gives you the ability to select the focus point with a simple touch, scroll through images by sliding your finger across the screen, and one-touch access to the menu. Even when shooting in a tight space the 25mm wide-angle Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar 4X zoom lens will let you get your shoot. Other user friendly features include Intelligent Sweep Panorama, Face Detection, Smile Shutter, Anti-blink, iAudio and many more. The DSC-TX7 certainly is an extremely functional camera with having a beautiful form.

Sony seems to be overlooked in quality in favor of the supposedly "big guns" in the camera industry. I feel that Sony can compare in many ways to Canon and Nikon in many of its digital cameras.
The TX7 is extremely pocketable. I love my Sony HX1, but I hesitate to take it everywhere - much more bulky than the TX7. The LCD screen on the TX7 is very sharp and bright, and the touch screen responds quickly and is easy to use. I have difficulties at times to get the Canon S90 to focus automatically in macro situations. The TX7 has a great macro. It focuses extremely close and the detail is very good (flowers). Generally, the color is accurate, and it is much better satuarated than the WX1 which seems more subtle and washed out . The hand-held twilight and anti-motion blur is a Sony original, and these features all work very well. You will also notice a difference in backlit images when the camera is in the new HDR mode. Sweep Panorama is easy and fun - no more image stitching on the computer.
The TX7 has very good photo quality but excells in video. I use both stills and videos for my video shows I put together, so I need decent quality for both. I dislike having to carry around a still camera and camcorder also. My new computer can handle AVCHD well. On the TX7, I am able to use the highest quality possible setting for video (FH). Video is smooth and sharp-no shimmering or blurring while panning. The zoom is silent, and focusing is immediate while zooming. There doesn't seem to be any focus finding. I like that Sony put the stereo microphone in front of the camera instead of on the top where fingers sometimes end up blocking the mic.
These seems to be the only drawbacks of the TX7. A finger can get in the way of the lens - it's just a matter of holding this type of ultracompact properly. I wish it had a 2.8 or wider aperture (to be more versatile). Sometimes, I miss the Vivid/Sepia/ B & W features (this can be done in a good video editing program), and the Sony typical cross, partial color and fish-eye filters.
The TX7 is not for people who desire much manual control. It is an excellent point and shoot- a great small all-arounder with very good image quality and fantastic video. It's also fun to use.

I bought this camera from B&H and gave it some test right after it arrived.
It's a slick, nice looking, small camera with sliding lens cover (sometimes is rough to slide)
The image quality is where this camera does not shine.
Extreme softness at the image corners, smudged details, non-editable wide angle distorting when using at 25mm.
The camera lens definitely has issues. I got a chance to talk to some people who own the same model of camera and they confirmed the the problem described above.

I wanted to love this camera, I really really did, but the most important feature of a camera is picture quality. I use fully automatic mode 99 percent of the time, unless its night and I use twilight mode etc etc. Unfortunately the pictures come out over saturated and unnatural looking in low light conditions. I called sony and they had me change the white balance, but it still made skin tones look orange, hair have red tones etc etc. Side by side with my old little Canon, in fully automatic mode, hands down Canon comes out ahead by a long shot. I was looking for a more current point and shoot camera, and this Sony camera is a lot of fun, but it had to go back.

Comments about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX7 Digital Camera (Blue):
I haven't had this very long yet, but I purchased it after reading many glowing reviews and because it had features such as the Twilight mode and panorama shot capability that I wanted.
One thing that is great about this, is that it comes with a battery charger for the wall socket and a dock with USB and video transfer ports so that you don't have to have a media card reader on your computer. The camera has a partially customizeable menu screen that you can tailor so that the functions you will be using or changing most often are the easiest to access. Also, the camera has a modest internal memory so you can play around with it right away even if you forget to buy a memory stick with it.
There are a few minor drawbacks. I usually prefer intuitive interfaces. If I have to keep clicking on menu icons to find the setting I want to adjust, that bothers me. Also, I would have prefered if I didn't have to install the accompanying software for the computer to recognize my camera was plugged in. I'd rather it be plug and play with optional mostly unnecessary photo managing program. Lastly, the camera surface and the LCD screen will probably need to be wiped of finger prints with LCD screen cleaner and a soft cloth as needed.
Overall, this camera performs as expected, which is good.

Comments about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX7 Digital Camera (Blue):
I bought this camera after extensive research online looking for the best camera for archive document shooting. All sources recommended the Sony DSC-TX7 or its older sister, the TX9. [...] The camera is just awesome and even it was meant to be a low-light success for my archive documents, it had turned out to be an all-condition success. I took photos with the camera in a snow blizzard, sunny days, cloudy days, well-lit and poorly-lit museums and other indoor spaces, smoky and extremely dark night clubs and of course - archive documents in the usual poorly lit archive reading rooms. All point-and-shoot photos were beautiful using the camera's intelligent auto adjustment mode. If you have time and/or you're shooting a still photo, the camera provides around 20 different shooting modes including an amazing hand-held twilight mode (no flash) and twilight portrait (flash on) for poorly lit sceneries and snow mode that yields beatiful pictures in snowy scenery. In what concerns video - the camera is taking hi-def videos in amazing quality. The only problem for me was that I could view my videos only on my TV and not on my computer (probably due to codec problem), so I had to change the prefs to loe-res videos.I was extremely surprised with the interesting sweep-panorama mode that the camera provides. It looks fantastic on the camera, viewing it with the camera's built-in gyro-controlled screen, but it looks not bad at all also when viewing it as a regular panorama on the computer. To sum up: the camera is a real bargain and offers a great cost-effectiveness ratio, easy to use touchscreen interface and great results in all shooting conditions.

Quick easy take along all round camera. Panoramas for those scenic shots with great low level light capabilities. If you have problems with the battery door either the battery/memory card is not in all way or it could be in the wrong way either will keep the door from manually closing. Screen is beautiful with it's high pixelation be sure to get extra batteries.

I'm just a point and, shoot kinda guy but, this camara is a lot more than that. The 3.5 display is super and, the menu is easy enoughf for any level of photography. I'ts pocket sized but, the photos are slr quality. the imaging is clear and true. I haven't used the avcHD yet but, I'm sure its great. this is the perfect camara for me and, I would recomend it for all levels. It is BUILT well seems like it will last for ever.... I really have nothing bad to say about the DSC-TX7.

For the past few years I have been wanting a camera that has the panoramic features this camera has. I have enjoyed and been surprised at the quality of images I have gotten from this camera. The only area that I am not completely happy with at this time is the low light capabilities this camera has. However saying this I must also say I have not fully experimented with these features as of this time.

This is an overall awesome camera. I am into photography and did not want to carry a huge SLR Nikon, this is the perfect match! I just wish it zoomed more than 4x. But other than that. GREAT!

Comments about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX7 Digital Camera (Blue):
After trying several point and shoots, and I do mean several, this has been the best. The great points include compact, convenience with decent photos. The video is exceptional and the main reason I purchased this camera instead of the Nikon's s6000. The pictures are superior as well. They are definitely not slr quality, but they are better than others in the same class. The presets are acceptable, but I would LOVE to see access to a manual setting. The best pictures and video I have seen outside a slr is the canon powershot sx30is- but it is extremely bulky and heavy. The sony is awesomely compact and the slide cover protects the lens. The flash leaves something to be desired, and hampers indoor pictures, but overall I like the camera. The outdoor/natural lit pictures are great.

As my kids get older, i started to look for a good camcorder for home videos.
I accidentally stumbled on this camera....
This is a great camera!! But I was really impressed with the performance in low light.
I was able to take pictures in really low light settings (dark parking lot) an the quality was amazing.
It is not as slim as the old cybershots... but I guess thats expected with a touch screen.
Definitely buy a screen protector before using
