I bought this camera for vacation, and I love it. It is the perfect size. It was easily stowed in my purse. It takes great pictures and it's so easy to use. No confusing setup. I just took it out of the box, put in batteries and starting snapping pics. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for an easy to use not so pricey camera. It's perfect. You don't have to spend a fortune for good quality pictures.

As a previous owner of a PowerShot, I thought I was getting the same quality as before. Unfortunately, that is not the case. The autofocus on this camera is hit and miss. When you are in a hurry, you don't have time to repeatedly press the button hoping to get a favorable shot. The lens will starburst on most bright lights. This is bad for night photography. This is even worse when taking video on a lake when the sun is reflecting on the water. I love the small size and the outstanding battery life, but that's all that is good. I am so disappointed in Canon. Fail.

Easy to use.
Perhaps I still have a little too much shakiness in my hands to be perfectly steady though.

I bought this camera for my grandmother--her first digital camera. She's loving the quality of the images, its versatility, and ease of use. I'd highly recommend this for beginning camera users who want to take high-quality photos.

Only used a couple of times so far but seems easy to use for pictures and videos. Downside is that it takes a few seconds for flash to charge between pictures but overall seems like a great buy.

Bought it as a replacement for an older version. Works great and is basically all we need. Own a "fancier" camera too. But, this is perfect for on-the-go.

Comments about Canon PowerShot A495 Digital Camera (Silver):
We have a larger Canon Powershot that is great but sometimes a bit much to lug around. We wanted a good but light compact camera to keep with us when we are going out.
This camera fits that bill and takes good photos. Keep in mind that it isn't a $500 camera. Its good for spur of the moment but if you need serious images you should spend more.

Comments about Canon PowerShot A495 Digital Camera (Silver):
Bought this very affordable camera as a gift, and knew it would be perfect as the recipient's first digital camera. Having owned Canon cameras, both digital and film, I stuck with the tried and true, and primarily considered the optics I would get for the price. I -- and more importantly the new owner of this camera -- are not disappointed.
Pros: good quality pictures (10 megapixels), large display, mostly easy navigation, super light weight, compact, great price (under $100).
Cons: some of the features which are manually selectable on my older (slightly more advanced) Canon, are a bit buried in a menu -- so not so immediately changeable, but still not so hard to find; seemingly short battery life (2 AAs); memory not included (but can be purchased very cheaply); delay on recharging battery.

Purchased this camera for my two daughters, it's light-weight and at the price, I wasn't terribly worried if they drop and break it.
BUT, the image quality is surprisingly good for such a low priced camera. It feels plastic-y, and it is, but I'm so happy with the images that I'm going to pick one up for myself as a carry-around.
