I bought the A3100 to have a small, discrete and light camera for snaps in times I cannot or don't want to use or carry my bulkier D-SLR (restaurant, snapshots on a trail etc.) For the most part it does a fine job. As other reviewers pointed out, it does lack options like shooting raw. There is a delay between pushing the shutter release button and the picture actually being taken, Also, buffer capacity is low, once you have taken a picture, it takes a while before you can take another picture (but I might just be used to DSLR). My main complaint is, that despite having IS, pictures seems out of focus when using the long end of the zoom range. Other than that, the camera performs very well, especially considered its price range.

For a beginner in digital photography, this is a pleasure. Simple to use and it also takes great pictures. Good choice. When I'm ready for something more sophisticated I'll contact you.

Bought this for an upcoming vacation and it took great pictures and easy to use. The photos are much clearer and brighter than my older Powershot A590. The recharable battery lasted about 4 days between charges. Completely satisified.

When I don't care to lug around my larger canon D7, I take my powershot. I got this to upgrade my powershot A70---which I love and still use. But this little camera fits easily into my purse or pocket without weighing me down. The photos are beautiful and lifelike. I am very pleased with this camera.

Good value, easy to use for everyday photography. Nice big view screen. Miss the viewfinder I had on my previous Canon camera. One thing I really like about Canon is the all in one charger. Some camera chargers have a power cable whereas Canon chargers have the plug built in which saves space when traveling.

What I love best about the Canon PowerShot A3100 is its ease at functionality and quality for a price that's hard to beat. The Canon PowerShot A3100 is sleek in design when used with the supplied wrist cord. I am a teacher and I trust in the quality my students can achieve by using it. Through the easy to understand menus that show all of the features, the PowerShot A3100 is a must-have in any small budget or first beginner's camera.

I bought my 1st Canon 3100IS last summer.Just so you all understand how much I loved that camera, I lost it on vacation in February and promptly came home and bought another of the same model through B&H. [...] The macro on the zoom works beautifully and all features are easy to use. I also love the rechargeable lithium battery, and its compact size.

I have an active almost 3 year old daughter with another child on the way. We want to get so many pictures of her but she's constantly moving. With the Powershot A3100's ability to take pictures at rapid speed yet have such straightforward navigation has been so beneficial to our picture taking.

This is a great camera. It was a gift for my Father. He loves how easy it is to use, there is actually an easy mode setting right on the camera. The lag time is great, He literally just points and shoots and the picture quality is great. It takes amazing pictures even in low light. He hasn't put it down since he got it!

The camera is small enough to keep in your jacket's pocket in spite of an excellent big screen. Besides its excellent value, it has versatility to shoot on different conditions. I used it with a basic SanDisk 4GB card and the picture saving speed is low for fast action.
