The Marshall V-LCD70XP-3GSDI-SB is a durable, lightweight 7" LCD field monitor designed for use on both camcorders and video DSLRs. Equipped with a scratch-resistant, high resolution 1.2MP TFT screen that provides exceptional clarity and brightness, this HD monitor brings a new level of ease to general framing and focus-checking. Otherwise identical to the earlier '70P' monitor, the '70XP' adds several convenient new features: manual gamma adjustment via the menu, image flip, adjustable on-screen markers, and the ability to place 1/4-20 threads on any side of the monitor for more flexible mounting.
Along with its Sony 'B' mount and component/composite inputs, the V-LCD70XP-3GSDI-SB comes equipped with 3G/HD/SDI input--for uncompressed 1080p compatibility--plus a variety of screen formats, markers and user-configurable function buttons.

Easy to use. had to do a factory reset to get false colors to work, but now everything is working well. This gives me more confidence that i've set focus and exposure properly when the subject is quickly changing.

Comments about Marshall Electronics V-LCD70XP-3GSDI-SB 7" LCD Field Monitor w/Sony 'B' Mount:
After years of dealing with cheap stuff, I'm meticulous about choosing quality equipment. This Marshall unit is spectacular and affirms the research I did on it. The unit is designed and manufactured in the USA and the build quality is outstanding. The case features a switch for battery versus AC adapter but also a position for OFF to prevent any power drain from the battery when not in use. There is zero drain.
The XLR power supply has a nice right angle plug so the cord doesn't stick straight out and pull on the unit. Furthermore, the XLR jack can be turned 180 degrees so that the cord goes up or down depending on your mount. If all that weren't enough, there's also a full set of rock solid "Thru" BNC connectors so no matter whether you are using Component, COmposite or SDI input, the signal can be routed thru the monitor to another device. And, since they are BNC, the cables stay nicely dressed and don't wiggle out.
The picture quality is everything you'd expect from an SDI but the built-in peaking and false color features revolutionized how I set exposure and get focus. It really makes getting sharp focus a snap...actually, it's idiot proof.
The manual is concise and nicely written. It even comes with a color index sticker for the side of the monitor for the false color feature. With merely a glance to the side, you get a precise gauge of how well exposed your skin tones are versus other parts of the image.
This is a professional device with all that you need to calibrate it for professional and stunning results.

Comments about Marshall Electronics V-LCD70XP-3GSDI-SB 7" LCD Field Monitor w/Sony 'B' Mount:
I use this monitor along with a Sony EX3. The prime uses are review of shots on the ground after filming and to monitor air-to-ground video shot from an airplane in-progress. The screen is pretty easy to see even with changing lighting (direct sun is the most challenging but it works).

Would highly recommend the Marshall 7" LCD Field Monitor for the Sony PMW-EX1. Just remember to disable the Sony i.link function before using the Marshall monitor.
