I did a fair amount of research looking for an HD camera capable of delivering good video quality at an affordable price, and the best one that I could find under $400 was the Samsung HMX-H204BN. It shoots great video, is compact, has a great interface and has a built-in hard drive (for about the same price as an SD card for the HMX-H203BN). I also like the built-in lens cover, sleep mode, photo-mode and overall it's just a nice-looking camera.
The only real issues I've had so far are the lack of a night-vision, the software that comes with it isn't very good (although you don't have to use it) the middling battery life and that putting the camera into sleep mode doesn't stop the lens from zooming, but overall I would definitely recommend this camera to someone looking to shoot good video on the cheap.

So far this camera has been great. I've recorded soccer and basketball games and I'm learning how to edit. So far it's been easy. It is easy and fast to copy video to my computer. Once you have finished editting the video, composing goes quickly also and uploading to youtube is very simple.
For a beginner like me, this camera is great!

Who wouldn't buy this when it was at [$]? Great camcorder. I have nothing negative to say. I would of loved to have a bigger GB drive but everything I was interested in was over my budget. This 16GB drive will do the job and it has a slot for memory card. Works great, no prob. I read some reviews about how there is a loud noise in videos after recording but I haven't had that issue at all and Ive owned it for over 2 months. Strongly recommended!

I have only had this product for a few weeks now, but I love it. I have used it to film my family, friends, a birthday party, my puppies playing, and a sporting event. The 1080p HD is great and I am able to get a lot of footage off of one charge and the use of the internal memory.
I really like that I can lower the quality when needed to save battery and space for longer sessions of recording. I bought a tripod with mine and would recommend that for anyone who wants to record long events.
Thus far I have not found any negatives.

The image quality is the best you can get from a 1/4" CMOS sensor. I also like the availability of 24, 30 and 60 fps frame rates. Low light image quality is high, as the build quality too.

Quality HD video. Had to update the firmware though (Easy download from Samsung website) but it wasn't that hard to do. Really like the touch focus function. Battery life is OK. Handy, small. A good entry level HD camcorder. I wouldn't say it's the best out there, but definitely worth for the price (~[$]).

used for graduation and some outside events and the recordings have come out great. if there was 1 con and not sure if this is a con but the camcorder is so small that if you have large hands it maybe difficult to operate.
