The BeachTek DXA-2T Universal Compact Camcorder Audio Adapter greatly improves the audio quality of your mini camcorder by providing two balanced inputs with gain control, and mic / line input switches. The DXA-2T attaches to the base of any camcorder and allows you to directly connect balanced microphones, wireless microphone receivers, external audio mixers, preamplifiers and more.
There are 2 XLR inputs with level controls, mic and line input switches, mono and stereo output switch, and a dual mode ground switch for eliminating ground hum and noise. The DXA-2T is easy to install, simply attach the unit to the base of the camera and connect the 1/8" output to the camera's input. The DXA-2T features a tripod socket at the base, allowing the DXA-2T and camcorder to be mounted onto a tripod.

One of best pieces of my first assignment with my new gear. Once you get it set up right. It does the job and help bring more professional sound. I like that it has the auxiliary jack. I was able to run double shotgun and conduct a sit down interview as a replacement tool when my wireless mics fell short on batteries.
The only weakness, working with the setup. They seem to change up with every different assignment. You kind of have to struggle with the ground setting.
OVERALL -- I'm surprised more camcorder owners don't consider this item. This is a much needed boost for neglected camcorder audio.

And reminder, ALWAYS use headphones and monitor your levels while recording to prevent poor audio.

I teach video productions and television broadcast classes and having equipment that is not only very usefull, but versatile in its use is extemely valuable. We use the audio adapter for our Canon Rebels giving us access to 2 xlr microphones that otherwise can't be used. Not only that, it serves as a mini audio board if I want audio control of a signal coming from a main board and controlled off camera.
The only issue I have is that an audio splitter does not work allowing you to use headphones off the adapter before going into the camera. That is a small issue, but would be nice to have as the Canon's we do field reports with don't have headphone out plugs on the camera.

So far this is a great product. I run a High School AVP class and this product has been fairly easy to use and worked very well with the Canon GL2. this is a passive device so fantom power on the mic does not work with this product so you will need batteries for the mic, but other than that we are really happy with the product.

I experienced some noise when I first wired the mixer my rig. I called the folks at BeachTek. I know the guy took at least 20 minutes with me (over 3 calls) to help figger out the problem... and he succeeded! Wow. THAT's customer service. Best part is, the mixer performs EXACTLY as I'd hoped. Two thumbs up on the product AND the company. Wish they made more stuff I could use.

I really love this product. I had been plugging cheap mics into the "mic in" on my Canon Vixia HFR10 camcorder. Whenever I would plug the camcorder into the wall charger (as opposed to running it on its battery) I would get a really bad "ground loop" hum. The "G1/G2? switch on the BeachTek totally fixed this. The other thing I like is the physical robustness of having XLR cables plugged into the Beachtek, as compared to a flimsy mic cable plugged into my expensive camcorder. The only thing I would want improved about the BeachTek is that the 1/8" input is mono, rather than stereo. Making this a stereo input in the future would add to the versatility of the unit. But since I am plugging in through the XLR cables, this does not matter. I am able to keep each of 2 mics on a separate channel so I can adjust the relative volume of each speaker later in the video editing software.

I'm very happy with this product! This has allowed me to use two lavalier and a boom mic with my camcorder with the help of a field mixer. My camcorder is a prosumer but it only has a mini headphone jack for mic input and no XLR input. This product mounts below the camera on the tripod and works great!

I make short video's with a canon vixia s10 using lavalier mic's and/or a shotgun mic.
Pro's - I like this product because it gives me stable inputs for my mic's. The canon s10 has an 1/8 inch input and this product allows me to plug in my shotgun mic without the need for adapters that may end up ruining the jack on my cam. I can also switch to my cordless mic with ease.
Con's - Don't have any right now because I got what I wanted out of it. It would be nice to be able to power my shotgun mic from this unit, but I don't know if that is even possible.
Overall a nice product for amatuer videographers like myself who are adding on a budget.
